“She has type 1 diabetes.”
Our lives changed forever when our daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis will probably change yours too. You will be thrown into a crash course of insulin injections, blood sugar tests and carb counting. But with time, you will learn to navigate the road ahead armed with the right tools, training and, very importantly, the right attitude! Of course, you will always worry, always look out for danger signs and hope for a cure every single day, but with time, you will learn to accept the diagnosis, deal better with the ups and downs and guide your child to thrive with type 1 diabetes. You will, as they say in our type 1 diabetes community, adjust to a new normal.
Through this book, the author shares her experiences, tips, insights and wisdom which enabled her family to embrace this new normal and move ahead. The book does not offer any medical advice but aims at offering comfort, hope and some answers to fellow parents of children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
