Devidasan Vellat was born on 2nd April 1962 in Chittilamchery in Palakkad District, Kerala, India to Vattompadath Madhavan Nair and Vellat Kalyanikutty Amma as the youngest of their four children. His father was a farmer and he helped his father in agriculture along with his two brothers and one sister.
