Christened ‘Anna,’ Annu C Pillai was born to Sebastian and Rosy of Thrissur, Kerala. She was a teacher by profession and also the headmistress of a school until it was taken charge of by the Sisters of St. Ann.
Currently residing in Kerala, where she has been settled since the early 70s, she cares for her family and is a social worker. She is a fearless campaigner for women’s rights and hopes that someday society will truly treat women with the respect they deserve.
Annu was also a member and office bearer of a national political party for some years. However, she was happier spending time with her family rather than pursuing full-time politics.
She began writing at a young age, and her writings reflect her beliefs. Apart from her regular articles in leading newspapers and magazines, she owns a prized collection of poems and short stories.
She is also widely known as the author of the popular novel, Waltair Station – A Girl’s Journey.
