Pritam Mandal is originally from Tisha, a village, located about 30 km from Kolkata, in the district of Hooghly, West Bengal, India. He completed a PhD (2013) in Physics from USA after his M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Bombay (2007). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at KAUST, Saudi Arabia (2013-2015). Pritam Mandal is originally from Tisha, a village, located about 30 km from Kolkata, in the district of Hooghly, West Bengal, India. He completed a PhD (2013) in Physics from USA after his M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Bombay (2007). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at KAUST, Saudi Arabia (2013-2015). His first novel “Rains from a Smoky Sky” was published in 2017, which is written in the form a diary by a girl from an Indian village, to awaken our society to apply science, technology, engineering, and humanity to implement well-designed systems and practices to clean up all types of pollution to build a healthy happy environment and society. 
Pritam has worked as the principal and lecturer of Physics at Durgapur Women’s College, Raiganj (an undergraduate college, affiliated to Raiganj University, Raiganj, West Bengal, India, 2018-2021).
At present, Pritam lives in Houghton, Michigan, with his wife Libia and daughter Tanishqa (Isha), where his wife Libia is doing a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at Michigan Technological University.
