Notion Press Presents – The Tiger CEO by Sharad Kumar Vats

The Tiger CEO

It’s a difficult time to be a leader. There’s so much chaos, complexity and change to navigate whilst also working out how to best manage and lead the people you have working for you or around you. The weight of expectation can be quite hard to deal with. It can challenge the very best of us, which is why it’s so important to be leading your way and from a solid foundation. Notion Press Presents- The Tiger CEO by Sharad Kumar Vats, your handbook on how to be an effective leader by embracing the tiger in you.

Tigers walk alone. They are not shepherded through life and are entirely self-sufficient. Confident, capable, charismatic – they are masters of their own destiny in the jungle. As a keystone species, they are catalysts for creation. Would you rather be a tiger or a sheep?

Unlike the family-oriented lion, tigers are solitary creatures that hate to lie around doing nothing. They are considered unpredictable and enigmatic. They have a strong aversion to routine in their daily life, and their spontaneity and energy infect others who are graced with their presence.

The Tiger CEO

The Tiger CEO hones your leadership skills with the wiles and wisdom of a tiger’s tactics in the wild. Many leadership books allude to the idea of the “tiger” in you. This book draws parallels between feline traits and those of great leaders, ranging from Gandhi to Branson. It not only highlights the manner in which iconic biodiversity conservation leaders such as Jim Corbett have protected and studied the species but also how their own behaviour has been impacted by it.

Observing the magnificent beast’s day to day behaviour can help us understand lessons to transform our workplace and become a highly accomplished leader that everyone looks up to. This is what Sharad has strived to achieve through this book, to help you master the skills, strategy and strength of a tiger to become the king of your own jungle.

Born and brought up in New Delhi, it was Author Sharad’s childhood passion to play cricket for India.  Being outdoors energised him, and his love for nature was born. While on a holiday in 1990 he saw his first tiger. Little did he know that this one sighting would immerse him into a realm where forests and tigers were all that mattered?

Although Sharad continued to grow up the corporate ladder, he took a strategic decision to align himself to the purpose of conserving the wilderness of India through tourism and thus saving the Tiger – while igniting his own passion for the outdoors at the same time. With a renewed sense of purpose, he quit the hospitality industry and started his own venture, called ‘Nature Safari India Pvt Ltd’, with a focus on ‘Conservation through Tourism’. In 2006 he set up a jungle lodge in Kanha National Park.

Sharad’s experiences as a wildlife photographer have inspired him to observe the tiger’s behaviour for over 30 years and motivated him on his own journey as an entrepreneur. Sharad examines the tiger’s key characteristics and finds several parallels with the corporate jungle.  He believes that there are many lessons to be learned from a tiger that can be applied successfully to leadership – both in business and in society.
