The author tried to improve the nutritional status of rural households through dietary diversity, and significant improvements were observed. Measures have been suggested for diet diversity to improve the dietary diversity score like promotion of kitchen garden, knowledge imparting about health nutrition and diet, demonstration of food groups, demonstration of the convenient recipe, healthy food procurement, and the introduction of preservation techniques are described in the book perfectly. The situation analysis of the selected population was done before making better interventions so that the factors affecting the nutrition status of the community, especially for rural settings like knowledge, awareness, attitude, utilization, availability, and accessibility have been under this book described deeply. Because positive results were obtained from this research, therefore the research method and approaches mentioned in this book will prove to be beneficial for other communities. It is expected that this book will prove to be beneficial for the readers working on community-based approaches for improvement in the nutritive value of the diet.

Dr. Indresh Kumar has M.Sc. and a Ph.D. degree in Nutrition Science and currently working as Programme Coordinator for the Regional Center of Excellence Nutrition Rehabilitation Resource and Training, Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Bhopal. He has completed three major projects while working in the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, during which the author got the opportunity to study the aspects affecting nutrition and health, especially in the rural setting. The author has worked as a consultant in an international organization working on community nutrition. He is passionate about working to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups of communities.
