Tears of joy as a prose-play, captures the trivialities, trials and tribulations of Indian women. As a Nigerian, the author’s knowledge of India was gathered from the Bollywood movies she watched from the early 90s to 2014. Since her arrival in India in 2014, her perception changed due to her day-to-day experiences, friends’ true-life stories and the news she read. This book emanates from a draft of a short play she wrote, which was to be performed for a literary event in LPU. Written in a simple style and language, it captures some intriguing realities of what being a female in India is like.
