Chapter 1

A tall girl with highlighted brown hair and black eyes wearing a denim jacket over her t shirt and a pair of jeans landed in New York city with her best friend. There they were Siya Agarwal and Sameera Tripathi on their way to their new home. This is a whole new beginning for them and the beginning of a new tale.

“Oh My God…”

Sam rushed to the room through the hallway of their apartment in New Haven. “what happened, is everything alright?” asked Siya furiously.

“Siya, how can you keep your mouth shut after seeing something like that?” Sam seemed very excited while she showed Siya their new room where they would be spending the rest of their college days in. Indeed, both of them were really thrilled but Siya was a kind of matured one and Sam, the crazy one. Their families were closely bonded and they have known each other since five and no one has ever come in between their friendship. They grew up pretty protective towards each other. Everything was perfect until Sam’s father, Mr. Harish Tripati died the previous year who was a scientific researcher and explorer and she and her mother decided to move back to Mumbai, her mother’s native. But how could she leave behind her bestie who has always supported and comforted her, this time too she didn’t fail her. Siya and her family had been able to keep up to them and considering her child’s life Mrs. Tripati decided to stay back at Delhi.

Sam was back on track with Siya on her side, and this has been a wonderful year for both of them. Even though they are from a middle-class Indian family, they have managed to accomplish their dream of studying in this prestigious institution with the help of their folks. But still, considering their limitations as any other ordinary students they decided to join part time job, which would benefit them in meeting their expenses and what else would make an Indian parent happy, more than realizing that their children are earning and saving money.

“Sam, we are getting late.” yelled Siya.

“Don’t scream as if we are in the streets of Delhi, and the bags are not even unpacked, so why do u expect me to get ready early... It’s a mess.” Replied Sam.

They started walking down the street.

“I know, but the appointment with Mr. Agarwal was at 4.00pm and it’s already 4.15. When will you learn some punctuality, Sam?”

“oh my god, relax Siya he is your uncle anyways, and he will understand the difficulties that two beautiful young girls will face just after reaching New Haven, for the first time in their life’.

“Oh, you crazy just shut your mouth while I speak to him. And don’t reveal your funny side, which only you think you are. ok? Let me handle this, he expects a little bit of maturity from girls going to Yale” Sam looks at Siya and smiles naughtily

“fine, I won’t open my mouth other than to drink coffee and eat something, is that alright with you my lady?” asks Sam sarcastically.

“yes, that would be totally cool, u talkative freaking bitch”

The girls laughed and continued their walk to the cafeteria to meet Siya’s uncle who is settled in New York and came here to meet and in fact welcome them to their new life.

The meeting went wonderfully and he has already arranged a part time job for them in a library near them to assist the librarian. As both of them were really into books, it would a great opportunity for them to know more about it and after the job they could spend their time in there as a library would have a peaceful atmosphere.

The girls reached the apartment and were unpacking and getting settled.

“That went so well but I am so full, and I think I could eat only on next Wednesday”

“ah, really? It’s Sunday today, so I think you should rethink what you just said” Siya said mockingly

“yeah, maybe I’ll eat tomorrow…not because I will have appetite to eat but tomorrow is our big day, first day at Yale. Oh god I’m so excited” Sam stood and grabbed Siya’s hand and jumped on to the bed.

“Remember, two girls going to school together, bunking classes, having panipuri from the streets, and Stalking boys after school” asked Siya nostalgically.

“oh, all feels like yesterday and here we are taking our biggest leap of our life together” Siya added as tears rolled up their eyes.

“Never leave me my bitch, if you do, I’ll bring the hell out of you, because I don’t know what to do without you”, She added.

Sam hugged Siya and said “Even if u leave me, I’ll never let you get rid of me.”

`Both of them hugged how they used to do when they were five and closed their eyes to sleep as tomorrow awaits…

There arrives one more beautiful chilly morning announcing the arrival of the crisp fall, which is indeed an exquisite season for the New Yorkers. But this is not a normal morning for the girl who dreamed.

“Rise and shine!” Siya Pulled off the blanket from Sam’s face.

“What? Oh no, it’s so chilly. C’mon Siya, it’s just seven o clock, let me just lie down for a bit.”

“No Sam, get up. It’s our first day and we cannot be late.”

“How are we supposed to be late for ten o clock’s seminar if I lie down for ten more minutes? Please explain Miss punctuality.”

“I don’t have time for an argument Sam, just get up. Nothing can go wrong today. I have made breakfast, so freshen up and get ready before it’s too late.”

“Oh, my dear you are so nervous.” Said Sam with a wicked smile. “Don’t be… because we will find a lot of new guys to stalk.”

“Sam!!! Seriously? I don’t want to be the victim of your lame jokes so early this morning, so spare me. And I am not nervous”

“I know you Siya so don’t pretend as if your mind is so calm. The reality is: there is a storm inside you and that is obvious as you are biting your lips. That is one of the trademarks you do when you are terrified as hell. So, cut it out and spit what’s going on”

“Oh! Damn. Who am I fooling?” Siya said desperately. “Honestly, I don’t know. But I feel like something is burning inside me.”

“That is your spirit, girl. You dream is actually coming to reality today and don’t worry, that’s why you have me by your side. We have done everything together since childhood and I will stand by you when you proudly walk through the gateways of Yale today, your dream is my dream. Is that clear?”

Siya smiled and hugged Sam

“Crystal clear, ma’am.”

Siya stood up to leave, suddenly she turned to Sam and reminded her to clean the bed before she is off to freshen up to which Sam replied “your territory, your rules your majesty”.
