Small poems leave large spaces unfilled and larger silences unxpressed. Poetry of spiritual contemplation and romantic half-truths often come in this category. ‘Eternity is a dew drop’ is a collection of such small poems by Sai Sasmita Dash which fall somewhere within this spectra. The lyrical soul of these nuggets would expect from its readers a sensibility that is unsullied by modernist apologies. Sometimes in prayer-like whispers and sometimes in breathing undertones of stifled longings, these poems leave the reader asking for more. Sai Sasmita Dash is a physician by training. After rendering her service as a doctor for a few years, she joined Odisha Administrative Services. Born in Kamakhyanagar, a small town in Central Odisha, she lives in Barbil, the heart of state’s mine country.
