The book also covers his return to Srirangam after the death of the Chola king and his establishment of 74 Simhasanadhipathis to continue his work after his passing away at the end of 120 tumultuous years. A translation of Vedanta Desikan's Yatiraja Sapthathi into English prose is an additional attractive feature of this book.

The author was born in 1944 in Srirangam, the foremost among 108 sacred shrines of Vaishnavites and hailed as paradise on earth. After his first 20 years spent in this town and Tiruchirappalli, he went to the Indian Institute of Science to carry out research in Physics for a PhD. After getting this degree, he spent about a decade in Oxford and Berlin before joining IIT Madras as an assistant professor of Physics in 1977. He became a professor of Physics there in 1984 and served as the head of the Department of Physics during 1994–97. He was the chairman of the Joint Entrance Examination for the South Zone in 2000. He retired in 2009 from active academic service. He has already authored A Chronicle of Srirangam during the last millennium, which was also published by Notion Press.
