Priya Prabhakaran was born in Kannur, Kerala, in India in 1979, to N.Prabhakaran and Sreemathy Prabhakaran, grew up in Bahrain, and returned to India in 1995. She did her initial schooling in Indian School, Bahrain and her higher secondary schooling in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannur. She completed her Bachelor in Architecture from College of Engineering, Trivandrum in 2003. She practiced architecture for two years and later left it as she felt it was not her calling. She currently works as a Project Manager for an IT firm in Cochin, India. She is married to Brijesh R Nair and has two children Neha and Neil.
The Dancing Waters is her first endeavour as a writer and focusses on complexities of human relationships and is based out of a rural village in India. Her second book "Freaky Chakra" is a fast paced novel with humorous connotations with time being the essence of the premise as unrelated lives get interlinked in a span of less than 48 hours.
