Anannya Sharma, Kashish Singh

Anannya and Kashish are two aspiring student authors who crack the code to the minds of teenagers through their words.

A dancer, musician and a passionate artist, Anannya has a zeal for the arts. She spends most of her days sobbing while re-watching Bollywood classics, eating her favourite snacks and most importantly spending time with people she adores the most. She finds happiness in troubling her father and sister to take pictures of her. Most importantly, she loves her mom’s aalo paranthas and rajma. Wherever she goes, she brings life into the room with her radiant energy and everlasting positivity towards everyone and everything.

A national basketball player with a passion for psychology, Kashish is active and balanced, yet her constant complaint is “I’m so tired.” Kashish is a perfectionist and obsesses over things to be done right, which is in contrast to Anannya’s persona. Born in the USA, Kashish is often categorised as everyone’s American best friend. As expected, she is often forced by all her friends to speak in Hindi, but she successfully refuses to do so. She s empathetic and supportive towards all her friends and she never hesitates to stand up for what’s right.

What connects both of these contrasting personas is their love for writing. The two use their writing to overcome the fluctuating graph of life.  They write to use their powerful voices to create a sense of unity amongst all teenagers who are dealing with the same kind of sadness, emptiness or happiness. Their writing is what makes them who they are and who they truly are is encapsulated in this book that you’re holding.
