Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalAre grades everything? Is it fair to predict a youngster's future plainly based on some numbers? There's more to life than textbooks, and My Unskooled Year chronicles just that.
The book presents a refreshing perspective of reality from the eyes of Sagarikka Sivakumar, an average student, who took a year off after her tenth standard to tread the path less taken.
Follow this 15-year-old, as she invests in Stocks, goes door to door to sell products, interns with organizations in the hospitality and social sectors, hikes across mountains, makes documentaries and also studies among doing other things!
It is one thing to profess and another to walk the talk. This book shares the story of many of us who have secretly aspired to, but have not dared to.
Sagarikka
Sagarikka, the daughter of Savitri and Sivakumar, discovered her passion for acting when her team won an interschool theatre competition conducted by Alchemy Theatre for Kids, Chennai. She is also the winner of a District-level Rangoli competition, Western dance competitions and a few school-level oratory contests; she feels that her biggest achievement was winning the Rotary Youth Leadership Award – District 3000, in 2013.
The young sports enthusiast has actively
taken part in athletics, football and basketball tournaments and enjoys
swimming and playing badminton.
During her break from school for a year, she
donned the hats of a trekker, a blogger, a documentary filmmaker, an investor, an app developer and an avid reader
with ease. She also uncovered her passion for playing the violin and singing.
Sagarikka is now learning Math and Science
with great zeal. She believes that students should concentrate on concepts and
enjoy the process of learning rather than just scoring marks.
She doesn’t plan the future as she wants to
live in the moment and further her interests in Robotics, Mathematics, Science,
writing, Politics, Business, Investments, Oration, App development, fitness
training, Digital Marketing, Organic Farming, Mountaineering and film Direction/Production.
Her friends know her as a fun-loving,
happy-go-lucky girl, who enjoys living in the moment, tapping her feet to music
and dancing to Bollywood songs.
