Hubert Bolwari Marak
Hubert Bolwari Marak is the second son of Nabinson and Hemilish Bolwari Marak. He was born in a village called Line Ading in Bajengdoba, which is now in North Garo Hills, on 18th December 1960. Shri Hubert Marak did his initial schooling in his village. Thereafter, he went for his studies to Shillong. After graduation, he taught for a while in Bajengdoba High School. In 1987, he joined the Meghalaya Civil Service. He was posted in several districts of the State in various capacities during his long years of service. In 2003, he was promoted to the post of Director and joined Meghalaya Transport Corporation as the Managing Director. He also served as Director in Housing and Meghalaya Land Records and Survey Departments. He was also instrumental in establishing the State Disaster Management Authority Secretariat in the State in 2011. He served as the Executive Officer (which is now re-designated as the Executive Director, for which the proposal was initiated by Shri Hubert when he was the Executive Officer), State Disaster Management Authority Secretariat for four years, from 2012 to 2016, during which time the institution grew and became well known in the State. He did his Master’s in Political Science during his service in Shillong. In the year 2015 he was promoted to the Indian Administrative Service and was posted as the Secretary, Water Resources after the completion of his induction training, thereafter he was sent to the District as the Deputy Commissioner. He was then posted as the Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department for some time thereafter being posted back in the District as the Deputy Commissioner, in which post he is currently serving with.
