Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a valuable tool which can non-invasively help not only clinicians, but also materials scientists and practitioners of various other fields. The relatively high costs of OCT instruments can be a deterrent to the application of OCT in academic settings. In work done at the Department of Physics, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Deemed to be University, located in a rural area of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India, we have attempted to make OCT more accessible by exploring options to lower costs. This book is an adaptation of a PhD thesis, which explores this field.

Hari Nandakumar

Hari Nandakumar was born in Maidstone, Kent, UK in 1974. He received the B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning's (SSSIHL) Brindavan and Prasanthi Nilayam campuses respectively, in 1995 and 1997, receiving gold medals for topping the University both in B.Sc. and M.Sc. He joined the Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre (Planetarium) at Prasanthi Nilayam in 1998. Since 2012, he is the Senior Manager in-charge there. He pursued a part-time PhD degree at the SSSIHL from 2015 and completed it in 2019. His research interests include optical coherence tomography, lasers and photonics.
