Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalTypes of diathermy are Short wave diathermy, Long wave diathermy, Microwave diathermy, Ultrasound diathermy, Laser diathermy. Shortwave Diathermy-Continuous SWD, Pulsed SWD are discussed separately with circuit diagrams and electrodes. Checking of diathermy for power, repair, maintenance , trouble shooting are explained to understand easily. One equipment is selected and dissected to explain. Design of SWD and PSWD - using Arduino is explained.
Microwave diathermy (MWD), therapeutic wavelength is 12.25 cm and frequency is 2,450 mega cycles/second. Wave guides conduct microwave energy at lower loss than coaxial cables. The magnetron is a high-powered vacuum tube that works as self-excited microwave oscillator. This system is explained with figures of Magnetron, High voltage circuit and safety since it uses 2KV.
Therapeutic ultrasound is a treatment modality commonly used in physical therapy. Explained with figures of Ultrasound production and transmission into body. Pulsed Ultrasound system is mentioned with figures.
Electrotherapy, uses an electrical machine that delivers electrical impulses to a patient's body. Interferential Current therapy Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) are also mentioned.
Laser therapy (physiotherapy) (Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation) is explained
IR ,Paraffin Bath- Therapy, Continuous Passive Motion, Traction, Electrical Muscle Stimulation are explained with schematics.
