That was her first introduction to Rabindranth Tagore. As she grew up she began to read his works more and more and love him more and more. Little did she imagine at that time that one day she would dare to write the sequel of his famous novel, ‘The Last Poem’. The hero of the novel, Amit Ray says Rabindranth Tagore ought to die now.
He is trying to imitate Wordsworth by refusing to die. He writes only old fashioned poems. She had always laughed when she read this and thought only Rabindranath Tagore could make a joke about himself like this.
But on that particular day she tried to imagine what would Amit do on that day when Rabindranath Tagore actually died, what would be his reaction she wondered. Would he ever meet the girl whom he loved but didn’t marry? She didn’t know when she started to write ‘Shesher Kabitar Amit ar Labanyar Pachish Bochhor Pore’.
