Avi Sonpal is an entrepreneur turned part time author.
Avi was born and raised in South Mumbai. On
completing his graduation, he went on to pursue specialised studies in the
apparel business at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He
lived there for a few years before returning to India and the city he
loves. He grew up reading books of all genres from Indian fiction to
philosophy, religion and management. Besides this, he is an avid
moviegoer, self-proclaimed film critic, regular swimmer and enjoys an occasional
game of golf.
He also co founded an NGO called REACH whose
primary focus was to uplift the lives of garment factory workers.
Avi began writing his first novel during travel
to China at the time of a sabbatical from the corporate world.
South of Salsette is his attempt to bring out
the idiosyncrasies of his contemporaries in the South Mumbai Society.
