Kanishk Banka
The Black Barrier - A Jihad Story by Kanishk Banka, 26, is his second book in the Jihad Trilogy after The Inferno - A Thought Fire, published in 2012. This novel, like the previous one, deals with the interpretation of Jihad, the holy war. It is a thematic sequel, set in a dystopian world.
A drop out from Christ University and DU, Kanishk has completed his double Master’s in Journalism and in Sociology. He then moved on to Whistling Woods International in Mumbai, from where he completed his two years diploma in film-making. Thereafter spending a year and a half, travelling across the country pursuing his writings and trying to discover himself.
Being interested in Sociology ; world religions, naxalism, terrorism etc. amidst others, occupied his thoughts. While 26/11 triggered his first novel, the current geo-political situations seem to be behind his second novel.
Having worked as an assistant on a few advertisement films, he is presently assisting on an independent film project and writing his third novel, Antonym.
