Swami Avdheshanand Giri
Swami Avdheshanand Giri is one of the most respected saints of India. He is the Pradhan Acharya and the Mahamandaleshwar (Spiritual and Administrative Head) of Juna Akhara. The Juna Akhara is the largest congregation of Sadhus in India. It includes the Naga Sadhus whose number is reckoned to be over a million. Swami Avdheshanand Giri has also initiated thousands of his civilian disciples following the Vedic tradition of Guru-Shishya Parampara (tradition).
He is the President of the Dharma Acharya Sabha and the Chairman of the Samanvay Seva Trust and Prabhu Premi Trust. These trusts are engaged in social welfare activities across the villages in India. The famous Bharat Mata Mandir in Haridwar is managed by the Samanvay Trust.
Swami Avdheshanand represents Indian spiritual thoughts at various global forums including at the “World Parliament of Religions”. He is a thought leader on world peace, universal brotherhood of humankind and climate change. He has spoken at the United Nations and other global conferences on these topics.
His ashram is in Kankhal, Haridwar in Uttarakhand. It is called the Harihar Ashram.
