The Grandeur Of OM Mandukya Upanishad - A Meditative Approach

Author Name: Dr. Tejaswi Katravulapally | Format: Paperback | Genre : Religion & Spirituality | Other Details

In the age-old tradition that has been handed to us by the highly realized vedic seers, any mantra is to be uttered only after the invocation of the mystic syllable “Om”. But, what is Om? How should it be uttered? Why should it be uttered? What is its relation to the world we live in? How is it connected to the concept of God? What are its practical uses in our daily life? Such questions are clearly answered by Mandukya Upanishad. It is a concise treatise on the grandeur of Om. It offers some practical meditative instructions, which when sincerely followed by us, allow us to enter into the experiential world of the God-ultimate. This Upanishad contains 12 aphorisms. The present work is an attempt to thoroughly explain the intricacies contained in these aphorisms. Every aphorism is provided with a word to word meaning, a direct import and a detailed explanation. The commentary is non-traditional in its style and it does not belong to any one school of thought. I have chosen to link many branches of wisdom such as that of the Veda, Tantra, Purana, Sri Vidya, Modern Sciences, etc. This is to bring out a systematic and harmonious outlook which aims to connect the missing dots in the spiritual journey of a truth seeker. I welcome the interested reader into this enigmatic journey.

Dr. Tejaswi Katravulapally

I hail from the pearl city of Hyderabad. I pursued B.Tech in ECE from LNMIIT, Jaipur and M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Madras. Later on I pursued a research career in the field of Quantum Physics. My research was funded by the European Union's prestigious scholarship scheme EMJD-EXTATIC.  This led me to a successful completion of a joint doctoral degree (PhD) from Dublin City University, Ireland and Military University of Technology, Poland. My scientific research has been published in some of the most reputed academic physics journals such as Physical Review A, Atoms, etc.

Having brought up in a traditional Indian family environment, I have also developed a keen interest in the study of ancient scriptures. The years of my exploration resulted in the evolution of my spiritual outlook. I always study the ancient scriptures in the light of modern science and vice versa. I am an ardent disciple of Master E.K. Along with his works, I also follow the works of Sri Aurobindo, Sir John Woodroffe, H.P.Blavatsky, Alice A. Bailey, Swami Vivekananda, etc. Many ideologies have shaped my thought process over the time and helped me peek into the wide vistas of ancient's intuition. The outcomes of my spiritual explorations are regularly recorded in my blog - https://ardentdisciple.wordpress.com. I have authored two books titled Lalitā Priyadīpikā - a commentary to first 111 names of lalitā sahasraṇama, and Journey through the Vēdic thought - a commentary to 16 hymns of Puruṣa Sūkta of Rig Vēda. Paperback versions of both these books are available via Notion Press publishers. I have also authored a few interesting articles which found their place in some of the esteemed magazines of India.
