This book is a modest attempt at amplifying the voices of Partition of Assam and its atrocious after-effects . Being an upshot of a decade long investigation of the ruthless unearthing of people’s history, it captures agonising sufferings of forced migration of Bengali Hindus from East Pakistan to Barak Valley, Assam, and their painful struggle of resettlement in an alien land. The book is an oral testimony of the events of Partition; and the tales of up-rootedness.
To conclude, this academic endeavour is a reminder of the wounds that might never heal; a study into identity crisis, tormenting memories and frightening afflictions of homelessness of the refugees of Barak Valley.
