In other words, it is the story of those who responded to the Christian gospel proclaimed by western missionaries and then embraced/embodied/developed it within the context of India. The book is a collection of biographies, telling the stories of 42 Indian Mennonite Brethren church leaders. Each biography details who these local leaders were—their upbringing, education, calling to Christian service, and contribution to the life and ministry of the Mennonite Brethren Church in India.

Jayaker Yennamalla

Dr. Jayaker Yennamalla is Professor of History of Christianity at Mennonite Brethren Centenary Bible College (affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University)), Shamshabad, Telangana State, India. He is also an Ordained Priest of the Mennonite Brethren Church of India (GC) and Chairman of MB Field Association Shamshabad.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) in 1996 and a Master of Arts (Telugu Language) in 2000 from Osmania University, and a Bachelor of Divinity in 2007, a Master of Theology (in History of Christianity) in 2011, and a Doctor of Theology (in History of Christianity) from Senate of Serampore College (University) in 2019.

He presented several papers at regional, national, and international academic conferences. He wrote several articles, book reviews in national and international journals.
