Susmita Mukherjee

Born and educated in Kolkata, Susmita Mukherjee spent parts of her childhood in Odisha and Jharkhand where her father, a business management Post-graduate  student from Edinburgh, worked with the National Coal Development Corporation. She began her journalistic career with The Telegraph (Kolkata) in the late 1980s and later joined The Times of India (Eastern region covering Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and the Northeast) where she worked as coordinating editor for many years. In 2016, the Public Relations Council of India conferred on her  the Media Personality of the Year (Print Media) award for her outstanding contribution to the profession, industry and society. She lives in Kolkata.
