Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThere are things unknown. We don't always see them, but we sense them. Have you ever been alone and felt that someone was watching you? Afraid to turn around, lest you catch a ghostly visage out of the corner of your eye?
One reason we consume the supernatural is to experience stimulation. Exposure to terrifying acts, or even the anticipation of those acts, can stimulate us mentally and physically in opposing ways: negatively (in fear or anxiety) or positively (in the form of excitement or joy).
Welcome to The Uncanny – a compendium of twelve tales inspired by events from our own experiences. It's time for that coffee break and a deep dive into the realms of the unknown.
DIPTARAG BHATTACHARJEE, INDRANEEL GANGULI, GAUTAM LAHIRI
Diptarag Bhattacharjee: I am a widely travelled corporate professional for whom the sensorial of geographies are data points for decision making. So, the adage Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Kohima is a befitting depiction of my persona. After three decades of picking minds across the diaspora, I am transitioning to business consultancy and entrepreneurship. I am a cricket aficionado and a photography amateur who loves toothy grins of all fauna and myriad moods of nature. I can be bought over by a glass of posh wine and Hilsa roe.
Indraneel Ganguli: I am an independent full-time marketing consultant managing my consortium (ReachIG), covering various industries (mostly B2B), writing and designing their growth strategies and performances, chasing the trends and tectonic transformations like my dreams and digging deep into every problem or opportunity. I have taken up sketching recently and giving wings to my thoughts around minimalistic art, without drinking Red Bull.
Gautam Lahiri: I distilled through 25 years of professional hopscotching, sharpened my innate logic skills by scribbling software coding and passionately rubbed the design fundamentals of automotive, shipping and aerospace using computer-aided design (CAD) to nurture various globally dispersed multi-tech chieftains. Primed the teams to slay the demons of project management, quality engineering, instructional design and content creation. Go head over heels, with love towards travel writing, car sketching, history and Mediterranean dishes.
