They are all ordinary women who walk amongst us. These heroines are from different states, income classes, age and social status levels. What struck us in our face-to-face interviews with these protagonists is their fortitude when faced with extreme challenges. We, as authors, were drawn to this conviction. We had to chronicle their battles.

Aparna Shekar, Hema Srinivas
Aparna Shekar is a consultant trainer on emotional intelligence, influencing, leadership and communication skills for leading multinationals, for the last two decades. She loves to travel, read, potter around her terrace garden and believes in doing her bit for the planet. A President’s Gold Medal winner for writing (SAARC countries), Aparna was also part of an elite four-member team of Cultural Ambassadors, who were selected to represent Karnataka state on a six-week group study exchange program to Birmingham, UK. Aparna has published articles on miscellaneous topics, has dubbed for commercials and movies, is a passionate baker and a trained classical singer. She loves connecting with people.
Hema Srinivas is a leadership coach and soft skills trainer with more than two decades of work experience. She trains in India and abroad. She is thrilled when she can add some value to the lives of people with whom she interacts, which was the key factor in taking the biggest risk in changing her career mid-life from a banker to a leadership coach. She believes in the motto ‘Give it your best, don’t worry about the results’ and instills the same in her son. Hema enjoys the journey in the pursuit of a goal. She firmly believes that messages are more effective and motivating when you use the art of storytelling. Thus, was born the idea of this book.
