Madhubala Swami is an associate professor and head of the Economics department at a Mumbai University affiliated college. She has done her M. Phil in development economics and Ph. D. in urban microfinance. Madhu has dedicated over twenty six years to teaching and research and has keen interest and deep insights on urban microfinance related issues. She has authored papers on wide ranging topics such as micro insurance, micro health insurance, women’s empowerment and the Indian government’s poverty alleviation schemes, that have been published in Indian and international journals. She has also presented papers on topical issues of the Indian economy at conferences in India and abroad.
