Submitted to Contest #2 in response to the prompt: 'Write a story about your character finding a mysterious message hidden in an old book.'

A man is that being in this world,
From whom everyone has expectations since childhood,
A bundle of expectations is tied on his head as if,

Nothing in his world is more important than them,

What he likes or dislikes hardly matters to many, or perhaps not at all,
Responsibilities neither let him sleep properly nor wake up peacefully,
He just keeps running, leaving behind all his dreams,
Trying to fulfill the dreams of every person in the house,
Since childhood, he is taught, "You are a boy, you can't cry,"
Learn to hide your sorrow, be strong,
You have a lot to learn and see in this world,
You can't do this, you can't run away from all this,
First, he runs to study, away from family for years in an unknown city,
In a world where he has no one to call his own,
Just to become someone who can help his father with household responsibilities,
His sister's education, her marriage, his younger brother's studies are his responsibility,
He wants to do something for his parents before they get old,
So that they don't face any more difficulties,
He has seen his mother work since childhood,
So he wants to start earning quickly and give her rest,
He wants to take his parents out for a trip somewhere,
And along with all this, when he gets married,
Whoever comes with him, it's his responsibility that she doesn't face any trouble,
Otherwise, the world will only blame him,
Then the future of the children, their responsibility,
That there should be no shortage anywhere,
Otherwise, what will the world say, what will be their future?
In between, if his wife is working, she helps with household chores,
If not, there will be no peace, and even if she does, he will still be the one to hear,
People will say, "Look at what kind of man he is,
He troubles his wife so much, doesn't even help,"
From relatives to friends, he has to look after everyone,
That no one is left out, no one gets upset with him,
That he doesn't make any mistake,
Even after that, the mistake is always his,
Sometimes, even without fault, he apologizes,
Just so that peace remains among everyone,
No one fights or stops talking to each other,
That person who takes everyone along, keeps trying to keep everyone happy throughout his life,
He keeps making an effort that is perhaps not even possible,
No matter what anyone says to him, he keeps trying to do what is good for everyone,
Even today, people call it a male-dominated country,
While in this so-called male-dominated country, men have no rights,
Whereas even today, girls are given a higher status,
They are always given first preference everywhere,
People write well about their pain and suffering,
But men's pain is still not meant to be written or understood,
And if someone mistakenly writes about it, people still try to prove him wrong,
I don't know how this is still called a male-dominated country,
Where even today, only women's feelings are seen,
No one wants to understand the heart of a man even today,
A person who has suppressed so many of his desires since the beginning,
Keeps making compromises for the happiness of some relationship,
Life doesn't even allow him to sit in peace for two moments,
He has no right to cry, no right to fall ill,
Because if he cries, people will consider him weak, and family members will worry,
If he falls ill, who will take care of the house, who will save his job?
Only after fulfilling everyone's needs can he ever think about himself,
The one who doesn't think even once before buying something for his family members,
He thinks fifty times before buying a shirt for himself,
He sits down to count all his expenses, all his things,
Wondering if buying something for himself will spoil his entire budget,
Wondering if there will be enough money for someone's needs...
O woman, you are great, you are the best, there is no doubt about it,
But sometimes, try to understand the feelings of that man beside you,
If he looks sad, hug him,
Kiss his forehead and eyes too sometimes,
Tell him to speak whatever is in his heart,
If he wants to cry, let him cry his heart out, no one will say anything to him,
Let him sit in peace for two moments and think about himself,
Tell him not to worry so much, you are with him in every situation,
Whatever happens, you both will face it together,
Show him some love too sometimes...
A man also wants to cry and sulk, wants someone to come and console him too,
He shouldn't always be the one afraid of someone getting upset or leaving,
There should be someone else with him too, who cares about him, who would be affected by losing him or him being upset...

A man wishes that he too could live some moments of his life peacefully for himself,
Where no one judges him,
Nor does anyone tell him, "You are a man, you don't have the right to live like this,"
He just wants some moments to lose himself in himself, just for himself.
