The Human and The Robot within me

Tik Tok...Tik Tok

I was continuously staring at zero at the rooftop when I heard in a robotic voice, “The time is 6.00 a.m.”

It was my alarm clock, which does not ring in an old traditional way. It speaks time to wake you up. I stretched my hand to switch it off. I was already wide awake before time. My head was banging with constant overnight thinking. I was up the entire night, and waiting for the clock to wake me, was just a formality. I was awake along with two others in me, and they are the Human and the robot. They both always stay with me wherever I go. They are no different. They are a part of me, except the Human has senses. It can feel and see things and sometimes think with the brain and heart too. The robot work on an automated voice and in a much-planned manner as they program it to do. Nowadays, they caged the Human, and it was struggling to step out in the beautiful world. The robot in me is more powerful than the Human. It always suppresses the voice of the Human and acts on the programmed language. So, I was fully awake the entire night with the Human in me planning how to defeat this robot and set the human free. It is the only time when the robot in me is not listening to the programmed language, its into deep sleep at that hour.

I stepped down quietly from the bed to walk straight into the kitchen to get myself a cup of tea. As I started walking towards the kitchen, the Human inside me began calculating. It has its strange ways to derive a conclusion. It wanted to decide if we can implement our plan to toss out the robot from me.

But how? That is a different question. At this moment, important was to decide the day, today, or tomorrow? The Human in me wanted to use a unique method to finalize the important decisions of life. It is the weirdest way, for sure.

Yes… No

Yes... No

Left foot…then right foot, as I walked further towards the kitchen.

Yes…No…

On each step, the Human in me was letting my footsteps to decide for me until I reached the kitchen.

Yes… It is a Yes, I screamed out of joy.

Soon after that scream, the robot in me woke up, and I transformed into a silent person. I was focusing only on one task, which is to prepare a cup of tea. There was complete silence now. The only sound I could hear was that of the squirrel running in my backyard. It also wakes up along with me, or maybe on some days before me. I was sipping my tea silently now. The clock hands meet perfectly in one line pointing downwards, “6.30 a.m. Time to dress for corporate office,” a commanding voice said. The robot within me stood up and walked silently to get a shower and get dressed. I was acting weird since the robot took over me a few months back.

A few months back: This was my third job in the last nine years. I happily entered into the corporate office of this third job. I walked around strangely to observe the things. Everyone’s behavior seemed weird. I reached my desk and met my boss. He handed me many backlog files to complete. I wanted to take only a few of them as it was my first day in my third job, but I felt something was suppressing my human voice. Something got chocked. That was the very first time when I heard my robotic voice. It said, "Yes, I will get it done," and accepted the entire work. I walked towards the desk and started working late.
