The doorbell rang breaking the silence of the evening. I was having dinner with my family, my wife stood up to see who it was, she wiped her hand with kitchen towel and she headed towards the door. She was looking through the peephole of the main door trying to recognize who it was. There stood a girl about 20 years old or something. I asked my wife who is it?. She gasped and quickly opened the door. She told me to get the car out of our garage and the kids to get the first aid. Then she helped the girl to get in the house and applied first aid to her. Her legs had been bitten awfully also had a couple of bruise on her hands and head. Then we took her to the hospital she was taken to trauma ward. She lost her consciousness on the way to the hospital, I and my wife took her to the hospital leaving our children behind at our home, after several hours of treatment, and doctor said that she was out of danger. She regained her consciousness next day at afternoon. She was not able to speak much: she needed some more time to get cured after a week she was discharged from hospital. We took her home, asked her who she was Winona Sebastian. She was from Croatia. She was a tourist and had come to Minnesota for vacation. We lived in the outskirts of the town named walker on the banks of Leech Lake. I am Shawn backer, my wife is lily and I have 20 years old boy Czar, our girl rose has turned 17 this year. When my wife asked her questions so that we can contact her family, she found out that her parents had died in a car accident furthermore she used to live with her grandparents: her grandparents raised her. We tried calling her grandparents but we were unable to connect with them, later we asked her how she have hurt so badly. Winona told us she had been roaming around city moreover she wanted to explore more, she wanted to go for hiking, she found out from locals about leech lake. She came to find out about lake. So following narrow trails she explored a lot of the forest and later on had camped on the banks of Leech Lake. She enjoyed scenic views of the Chippewa forest. She was a studying zoology so she saw many animals and also was writing thesis on some animal. After setting out campsite she caught some fish from lake. Later that night she sat for some time out near fire and when she was preparing for sleeping she heard some coyotes howling, she was a bit afraid ignoring that she slept anyways. In the morning she decided to go back to town. She started to head out of forest but she lost her way out as a consequense she was not able to call help or see the location as her phoneβs battery drained out, soon after she got a bit scared and decided to go in a direction later she saw a pack of chimpanzees as she was scared she started running and her leg got stuck in root of a tree and she falls, she tried to get back on her feet but her ankle got twisted so she sat nearby a tree and took out a cloth to tie around her ankle to get enough support having done that she started walking finding her way out of the forest. By the time all this happened it was already evening it was getting darker in the forest. So she started hurrying as she knew there were coyotes in the forest. It was getting darker and darker and it didnβt occur to her that she was gonna find the way out any time soon. She was frighten by the fact of being alone in the middle of the forest. She panicked and her heartbeat started to increase and then her intuition told her to keep moving as she was in the middle of nowhere, moreover standing at the same place was definitely gonna make her the food of coyotes. Therefore she started moving and then she heard something, she turns her head, saw nothing: she was sure there was something behind her. She starts running. while running she saw she was being chased by some animal she starts running faster by her ankle starts hurting terribly, but this was the matter of life or death so she starts running coyote was following her and it was getting closer and more closer. Due to a broken ankle she missed a step and fallen down on the ground. Coyote got closer and howled a couple of times, the girl was scared to see it and started throwing leaves and whatever she could grab in her hands and then she took off her bag and threw it on the coyote. And finally it ran off. She had started crying by the time she threw the bag. She sat there for a while crying but making sure not loud, as her voice would attract many other wild animals towards her. So silently she stood up and started finding her way out and looked around and found a trail, having seen that she follows the trail and after walking for a while she sees a small light from the forest giving her hope. She starts to get there as soon as possibly she can get there but again she hears something and it appeared that this times it was not only one animal following her but actually more. So winona took a deep breath and started running, as she was being chased she looked there were 4 coyotes chasing her she was frightened but kept running but coyotes were faster one got closer to her and tried to bite her on the foot. But it failed again so it tried even harder and it had grabbed winonaβs leg, she falls and other coyotes starts to bite her legs she throws here bag at them and finds a log of wood and grabbed it and hit one of the coyotes on the head, seeing that other coyotes got scared and one starts crying, she managed to stand up, and hit others with the log and she starts running, light appeared to get closer and closer.
And thatβs it for today says grandma: sitting on a rocking chair to her kids closing the book in her hand. She keeps the book on a table adjacent to her. She finds her kids looking at her in a tensed manner, also curious to find out about the girl in the book and the family that helped her. What happened to them.
