In this modern world where video streaming platforms dominate the entertainment industry, Remya comes with an idea to challenge the OTT and discover something else that replace the current OTT. She thought this while she was watching a movie on Jio Hotstar. She was complaining about its buffering and video resolution when network connectivity goes down. As she is an MBA student, she consulted it to her professors who told her to deviate from this idea as they think it is almost impossible. She ask this to her parents who criticised her idea. She still want to proceed with this by taking risk. She began to research what forms of media were used by the people in the past before OTT. She came to know that there existed a High-Definition 1080i Video Cassette back in 2002. So, she thought why can't she use this vintage tech and make it modern to suit present day needs. She invited some scientists to join her in finding a new device that would use retro Video Cassette combined with the features that were never founded. But to her disappointment, no well known experts joined her project. Her friends mocked her but she still kept determined to go ahead with her plans.
After 6 months, Remya decided to employ the highly skilled fresh graduates who do not have any experience in her new company FutureWay. She asked them to learn about making Video Cassettes from the old engineers during which they would be given monthly salary. They learnt and came to her after 2 years. While, in two years, she prepared a plan to build a 16K resolution Video Cassette with a 16K supporting VCR. She laid the foundation of the project and asked her employees to work on it. As she is from a rich family, she used her family funds for the project with a promise to return it to her family. She found 16K Super Extra-High Definition as something unique as OTT platforms are able to give resolution only up to 4K. She thought that with years of hardwork, sometimes, she will be able to revive a permanent magnetic tape culture. She was not supported by even old hi-tech companies who once were pioneers of video cassette industry. A worker named Rahul was using his VR headset when Remya was passing nearby in the office. An idea struck in her mind-
Remya- "Well, how about integrating Virtual Reality headset with 16K VCR?"
Rahul (who removed VR and looked her)- "Wow! That's amazing. We will try our best."
Remya finally after 5 years, discovered the new VR with 16K resolution and feel disappear feature. This feel disappear feature helps the users not to feel something is in their head as the headset gets too softened to the human skin. It's like immersing oneself into the world of the movie without even knowing that they are using some kind of tech. She copied Avatar 2 film into the 16K tape and inserted it in her VR headset. She put it in her face and she checked.
Remya- "Oh! It's like I am in Avatar world. I can't feel the original world. Where is it now?"
The exit was possible only if she closed the eyes completely for 10 seconds and say 'EXIT VR' after which she feel that something is in her face. She then removed it and told-
Remya- "Hurrah! My invention is successful. The tape automatically stop playing after I remove and against restart when I put it."
Remya checked whether this device is harmful to eyes or body and made some corrections. She named her new smaller Video Cassettes as 'VR Tapes'. Then, she announced it to media.
All got astonished by her achievement which was thought as an impossible dream of Remya.
She asked filmmakers to give her company FutureWay the movies which they released in theatres before. Her VR Tapes have the ability to convert the 4K movies to 16K but not the resolution below 4K. So, she converted about 1000 4K movies and released 16K VR Tapes in her new store named 'FutureWay Movie Store'. She offered subscription service to the customers by saying that they have to pay โน2500 a year to enjoy 100 rentals a year. Remya named the Headset as VR square which in full form reads ' Virtual Video Reality Recorder'. She marketed it as the 'only device for 16K clarity Virtual World experience'. The tapes could be also bought for โน500 per tape. But she knew that sales would be less compared to rentals as nowadays, people would not like to own movies. So, she expanded her rental business to stores throughout India.
Remya paid back the funds she took from her family. FutureWay also allowed other manufacturers to make the tapes abroad.
After 10 years of the invention, a newspaper article reads-
'A single woman's determination defeated the OTT'- VR square cassettes surpassed the OTT in number of movies watched.
By this time, FutureWay is delivering VR Tapes directly to people's homes when ordered.
Remya is approached by all those who initially mocked at her and requested her for giving a job in her company or her store. Many scientist who earlier didn't join her company now left the companies where they are working and joined FutureWay.
On the International Women's Day, she is usually mentioned as one of the women entrepreneur who changed the world. She became an inspiration for the future generation women.
