It is easy to live and know, but very difficult to say. In man’s life also, what is great, beautiful and true can be lived, can be known, can be experienced, but it is very difficult to say. And the tragedy and misfortune is that for five-six thousand years, mankind has been talking about what should be lived, what should be experienced.
Love is being talked about, songs of love are being sung, hymns of love are being sung, and love has no place in man’s life. If you search within man, you will not find a word more untrue than love. And those who have proved love to be false and who have blocked all the channels of love, and the great misfortune is that people think that they are the originators of love. He talks about love, but the kind of misfortune that has engulfed mankind till today, has closed all the doors of love from man’s life. And in this regard, there is no difference between the East and the West, neither in India nor in America. The channel of love could not appear in man’s life. And if it could not, we blame that man himself is bad, that is why it could not appear. We blame that the mind is poison, that is why it could not manifest.
The mind is not poison. And those who are calling the mind poison, they have poisoned love, have not allowed love to manifest. How can the mind be poison? There is nothing poisonous in this world. There is nothing impure in this entire work of God, everything is nectar. But man has poisoned all the nectar. And teachers, saints and so-called religious people have the biggest hand in this poisoning.
It is important to understand this a little. Because if this thing is not seen, then love will never be able to happen in man’s life even in the future. Because the same reasons due to which love could not be born, we are making the basis and reason for manifesting love! The circumstances are such that if wrong principles are repeated for thousands of years, then we forget that the principles are wrong; and it starts appearing that man is wrong because he is not able to fulfill those principles.
I have heard that a fan seller was passing below the palace of an emperor and was shouting loudly that he had made unique and wonderful fans. Such fans have never been made before. Such fans have never been seen before. The emperor looked out of the window to see who had come with a unique fan! The emperor had all kinds of fans — which could be found in every corner of the world. And he looked down and saw a man standing in the corridor, ordinary fans costing two paise each, shouting that they were unique and incomparable. 3
The man was called up and asked what was special about these fans? What was the price of these fans? The fan seller said, Maharaj, the price is not much. Looking at the fan, the price is very low, it is just a fan worth hundred rupees.
The emperor said, hundred rupees! This fan of two paise, which is available everywhere in the market, and costs hundred rupees! What is its speciality? The man said, speciality! This fan lasts for hundred years. There is a guarantee for hundred years. It does not get spoilt in less than hundred years. The emperor said, looking at it, it seems that it will last for a week, let alone a full week. Are you trying to cheat me? Sheer dishonesty, and that too in front of the emperor! The man said, you know me very well, I sell fans every day in this lane. It costs a hundred rupees and if it does not last for a hundred years, I am responsible for it. I am present downstairs every day. And then you are the emperor, where will I go after deceiving you?
The fan was bought. The emperor did not believe it, but he was also sure that this man is lying outright, on what basis is he saying that! The fan was bought for a hundred rupees and he was told to appear on the seventh day.
In just two-four days, the handle of the fan came out. On the seventh day, it became completely broken. But the emperor thought that perhaps the fan seller would not come. But on the seventh day, at the right time, the fan seller appeared and said, tell me, Maharaj!
He said, there is no need to tell, this fan is lying there, broken. It has become like this in just seven days, you say it will run for hundred years. Are you mad or a cheater? What are you?
The man said that it seems you do not know how to use fan. The fan would have run for hundred years anyway.
The fan is guaranteed. How were you fanning?
The emperor said, listen you cheater , now I will have to learn how to fan?
The man said, please tell me how did you make this fan run like this in seven days?
How did you fan?
The emperor lifted the fan and showed that I have fanned it in this way.
The man said, I understood my mistake. Fanning is not done in this way.
The emperor said, what other way is there to fan?
The man said, hold the fan in front of you and shake your head. The fan will run for a hundred years. You will be finished, but the fan will survive. The fan is not wrong, your way of waving is wrong. This man is born — this man is the result of five-six thousand or ten thousand years of culture. But culture is not wrong, this man is wrong. Man is dying every day and the praise of culture goes on — that great culture, great faith, great everything! And man is the result of that, he has gone through that culture and this is its result. But no, man is wrong and man should change himself. And no one dares to say that maybe the culture and religion which could not fill man with love in ten thousand years are wrong!
