Saanvi Malhotra a 20 young girl living in a family of Malhotras.
She was the most pampered girl in the family. Loved by her brothers, family and friends.
Currently pursuing medical and in first year. She isn't studious but she knows what she wanted. With that courage she passed the entrance with surprising marks but as the saying goes on "MBBS IS MORE TOUGH" she felt it too but that's when her eldest brother shivin who was also a doctor came to her rescue teaching her pateintly. The second elder brother Nirmay was fun loving he teased her occasionly saving her from shivins extreme study sessions. Her mother Anuradha loved her daughter the most due to which Saanvi often teased her brothers. As for her dad? She was his Papa's little princess. Spoiled but yet kind.
Her life was everything one could dream of like a princess protected from the word.
One random morning her parents informed her about going to a party, Shivin was out for his job, while Nirmay was on a trip with his friends. Occasionally calling her to show around.
Saanvi came back from her university as usual but her home felt like house today. A sense of unease she couldn't comprehend.
Silently she walked towards her room thinking that maybe her parents left for dinner party. While walking towards her room he crossed the scared room no one was allowed to go. but but then she heard the silent whispers through the wall and what terrified her more was that it was her father voice she can't mistook but the next word she heard changed her life upside down.
"Sanvi wasn't born here, but she is my daughter. There's no way you can take her away. You might be her parents but she is ours now." As soon as she heard that. She questioned her existence, that she might have misheard but the voice was firm and undeniable. The family she thought was hers wasn't. Then who are her parents? Why she is here? Was her whole life a lie? What about her brothers?
Her heart ached, those words tore her apart like nothing could.
She wanted to scream, cry , ask questions but all she did was crying silently and continued to listen.
The man supposedly her father spoke
"You surely brought her up well but that doesn't change the fact I'm here father not you." Those words were cold devoid of any warmth and understanding. Unlike how Raghav*
( her papa) Spoke filled with a sense of maybe protection but why that was eating her in her panicked state she unknowingly touched the window to hold something and that made a noice causing the wishpers stopped immediately. She quickly went to her room and closed the door trying to be quiet as much as possible. She wanted to go and ask them but she was scared what if it was true? After a while she heard a knock "Saanvi beta, are you there?" It's was her papa but she couldn't find words to say. "Beta, I know you're back. Won't you open the door for you papa now ?" She quickly wiped her tears and made herself more presentable and Opened the door and said "Papa I was in bathroom, I thought you'll left for the party already." Her casual response gave raghav a relief she couldn't comprehend. " Yeah we will go but I thought to take you with us so get ready soon, okay?" He asked his voice filled with warm and care unlike the man in room. "Is it necessary? I don't want to go there." She said for a moment forgetting the whispers. " You'll be left alone, beta and Nirmay isn't here either so please beta come with us." If was not just love but some kind of desperation to take her like he couldn't leave her alone nonetheless she agreed "okay, give me 10 minutes" raghav nodded in response and went down looking for his wife Anuradha it didn't seem like he was bothered to Saanvi she thought maybe she was overthinking but again the voice was clear.
After 10 minutes Saanvi came in a pastel blue anarkali. And went to party with her parents. Throughout the time no one spoke Raghav seemed to be lost so was Saanvi as for Anuradha she was looking at Nirmays pictures and Shivins messages.
At the party with her cousins for a while Saanvi forgot about the incident but Raghav looked troubled.
As the days went peacefully Saanvi felt it was her overthinking how could her family be fake when they love her so much and she had her pictures from the moment she was born it was not possible.
Just when she thought everything was alright she found a letter on her name but by an unknown. *"Hello princess, you might not know me but I do. How would I not you're my own blood afterall my lovely daughter. Yeah I'm talking about you Saanvi I'm your dad not Raghav. And I'll take you with me soon. This time no one can stop me from being with my princess. Also theres a bracelet with the letter it's for you from your dada, love you princess, see you soon."*
See looked at the bracelet it was a simple silver bracelet with a little crown. But she was scared she quickly came back home and went directly towards Raghav. "Papa did you sent me any letters?" Raghav looked confused at and said"No beta I didn't sent you any letter." Saanvi gave him the letter and said "Then what is this ?" Raghav's face paled when he saw the letter and bracelet. He looked panicked but covered up and said "It would be some prank, beta. How is this possible" but it seemed a desperate attempt to hide his fear. "It's not a prank, i heard you saying I'm not your daughter that day is that true?" She asked unable to contain anymore. Her both brothers looked shocked and before Raghav could say anything both spoke "What are you saying princess you are our sister."said Shivin but with a hint of protectiveness and defencivenes. "Yeah, princess i have seen you since you were little." Nirmay explained he didn't seemed to have any defence it was all sincere. "No I'm not laying I heard dad saying that to some man in that abondent room on the evening of family party" Raghav looked dread that when panicked Anuradha came and said "No you're my daughter and I'm not giving you to anyone"
Saanvi looked at her confused and said"I didn't say someone was taking me from you." Anuradhas face paled in realisation. Raghav realising he couldn't hide it anymore decided to tell her the truth.
"It's true that you are not our daughter but we have brought you up since the second you were born" raghav said and Saanvis face paled the truth she never wanted to come true was right in front of her. Nirmay was shocked to know but Shivin? He looked disappointed and a sense of regret.
" I'll tell you the whole story" Raghav said heavy hearted.
FLASHBACK
You are daughter of my brother and his wife. When she was pregnant she asked Anuradha to keep her safe from her husband because he was abusive and we didn't know he played a perfect brother. And when we found truth we kept you and your mom away from your dad. On the day of your birth your father came to hospital asking for a chance at that time you were just born and with Anu. Your mom gave him a chance but he killed her saying she separated you from him. When he came after you we stopped him. And sent to jail. Shivin was 6 at that time so he remembers while Nirmay was 3 so he doesn't know about it. We didn't tell you anything to keep you safe from this. Your dad was sent to jail for 20 years. After a month. And just a month after you turned 20 he was released. The room that scared was your parents room. The man you heard was your dad Anshuman. You are not our daughter by birth but you will always be our little life.
PRESENT
We didn't want to hide this from you but it's too dark for an innocent soul like you.
He came back to take you with him but he isn't in right state of mind. He has cases even in jail. We can't let him take you beta.
With this Raghav became silent giving her time to take things everyone in room was crying by now. Anuradha was devastated. Even Shivin who always seemed stoice was crying for his princess. Nirmay was shocked and devasted. While Saanvi she couldn't breathe.
Shivin came to her and said " No matter what the truth is you are still my little sister, my princess"
Nirmay on cute joined him and said "i didn't know the truth but it doesn't matter You will always be my sister, the one i tease"
They both hugged her. After the incident Saanvi went to her room the family watched silently. Seeing their little one in pain when they never wanted her to feel any. The years of protection in vain because of truth.
Saanvi took days to prepare but she came up with conclusion that she loved her family despite the truth but she wanted to meet her dad for once to know how he was ? Why he killed her mother even before she could meet he.
The family didn't agree at first but having no choice they called Anshuman ready to protect their princess when needed..
Anshuman sarted speaking"Saanvi, my princess. I wanted to meet you for a long time. Come with me okay. Come with your dad."
Saanvi didn't feel the same she felt with Raghav for some reason and asked "why did you kill my mom?"
Anshuman went silent for a moment and Said "it was a mistake princess, i was angry on her for keeping you away from me. And I went jail for that already." He had no remorse, he was still cold and uncaring.
Saanvi looked at him hurt and in disbelief " how can you kill someone and call it a mistake? That too your own wife."
"I know I know it's unlikely but it's true. It was a mistake. And princess leave the past, come with me." He said as if it wasn't a big deal.
"I won't i will stay with papa and my family not with you" she said crying.
Her family looked her her in pain they felt their world churning.
"But I'm your papa not him, let's go"he said pulling her not caring if he was hurting her.
"Leave her" Shivin said breaking of his hand "she said no" Nirmay came on other side.
"Saanvi is our daughter" Raghav and Anuradha said all together.
Saanvi looked at them with love. No matter what happened she knew she was their daughter blood won't change it.
Before they could comprehend anything Anshuman pulled out a knife on Saanvi's neck and took her out "no one will come closer, I'm taking her with me, She is my daughter, stay away"
Saanvi looked at him she couldn't believe someone who called her his daughter and yet was pointing kinfe on her. She looked at him and said "Are you gonna hurt me too?" Anshuman looked at her and said " No princess I'm just taking you with me" but his actions said otherwise the way the knife almost touched her neck and yet he looked unbothered. Taking the chance Shivin hit Anshuman's head from behind and Nirmay took the knife. Pulling Saanvi out gently "Are you okay princess?" Nirmay said immediately hugging her tightly. Raghav called the police immediately. And ran to their daughter hugged her while Shivin tied him up and cheaked on her.
Saanvi was overwhelmed both by the situation and love.
Half an hour later the police arrested Anshuman and left.
Saanvi was still crying and fainted. Shivin cheaked her immediately and said "she is exhausted from everything. And not hurt physically" the family sighed in relief..
Saanvi woke up next day and say everyone sitting around her wide awake.
"Princess are you okay" "betta how do you feel" "beta do you need anything" everyone started asking her without a break when Shivin spoke " leg her rest first. You guys are not giving her a chance to speak." He said cheaking her vitals and said" everything's alright as expected from my brave girl"
The family sighed in relief and Saanvi looked at them with love and acceptance it would take her time but she knew one things that it was her family only hers. From that day everyone started looking at her even for slightest help like a glass of water.
" You'll are making me feel like I am a weak girl. I'm healed now I can do it one my own" Saanvi said looking at their overprotectiveness
"Naah princess we were just scared if you get hurt" Nirmay said rubbing his hand on his neck embarrassed.
Both the parents and Shivin laughed with Saanvi at Nirmays words. Finally the normalacy was returning.
As the days went on everything became like usual they still became sometimes overprotective but they now know when to stop and not irritate their princess.
The story wasn't the end but a new beginning but this one with her truth and acceptance.
