Giraffe's sight

Introduction

Helen sat watching the kids play while she memorized on the past. She looked on happily and thanking God she didn't take the bad decision when they came her way.

Denial

Anger

The semester exams are drawing very close, Helen has no continuous assessment records also hasn't been reading, it's been 2 months.

On that day she sat down at the far end, crying and writing whatever she feels relates to the answer. She submitted as soon as possible and left the examination hall. So she did for other papers writing unrelated things regrettably.

Bargaining

It's been 4 months now, Helen hasn't gone back home for holidays, she couldn't face her parents. Some of her friends told her of some doctors that could abort the baby for her. She paid a visit to one but the money he had requested was much and she couldn't afford it. So she resorted to other means like herbal medicines and concoctions. Helen took all sort of herbs and even drank lots of salty water all in a bid to kill the fetus.

Helen would drink bottles of concoctions until she lost consciousness.

Helen woked up in what seems like a hospital, saw her mum and kid sister sitting just beside her bed. She tried getting up but couldn't, she lay back while her mum looks on with teary face. Her sister instantly told her that she fainted and was rushed to the hospital by her roommates and then they proceeded to call her parents and that they also know about the pregnancy.

Depression

Helen was home now, receiving care and treatment from her parents(mum) her dad was so mad at her but couldn't chase her away.

Helen was going through posts online, when she saw a post indicating that their results were out. Helen had written 9 courses for 100 level microbiology. She went on to check her results only to see she had got F in all. Helen felt so bittered all over again. She regretted meeting Victor, she regretted listening to him, she regretted losing her virginity. She felt so depressed and started contemplating suicide. What kind of a mother would she be? What will she raise this kid with? Her dad had told her immediately she delivers she should leave his house.. where would she go? No job, no money, and a kid! She kept feeling sad all over.

Acceptance

Past midnight, Helen was in the theater with shouts of labour pain. She was there with her mum. Helen couldn't push so she was referred to a cesarian section and two hours later after a successful surgery, Helen was all smiles seeing her twins! A boy and a girl. They look so much like her thankfully.

The news of her twins had reached her dad and he hurried down to the hospital. He was all smiles and told helen he had forgiven her and told her when the babies are 5 months plus she can rewrite and start afresh as it wasn't too late to start all over. It was all smiles and goofy in their home as families and friends came in to look at the babies.

It's over one year now, and the kids named Larry and Lina are all grown now, taking their first step and falling happily to the amusement of the single mum and her mother who is now a grandma.

Helen had rewritten the entrance exams just as her father said and this time she got medicine and surgery, yes her dream course!
