Productivity of stale mind

Tina is sitting in the balcony with cup of tea. Balcony is her favourite place. Everyday after completing all household tasks, she uses to sit in balcony with a cup of tea and enjoys reading. She uses to tell that half hour as “me time”. That half hour gives her so much energy to play with her 5 years little girl Tisa. Satish her husband also values her “me time” and never interrupts in. And he usually busy with his meetings as side effects of Work from Home culture.

Today also after sending Tisa at school, Tina is sitting in balcony. But she is not able to focus on reading. Repeatedly her conversation with her friend Shantanu is coming to her mind. Today is Shantanu’s birthday and She had called him to wish. Suddenly Shantanu told her” Now Tisa has started going school, you should also start your job. “ Tina was fine upto this part of talk. But he continued saying “that will made your mind fresh”.

Tina can’t understand the definition of Fresh Mind. And how mind can be fresh by doing job only. She recollect the memories of her job days, the work pressures, politics, Overtime, etc. She was handling all these very efficiently and awarded for her best performance. She was very much career oriented. But after the birth of Tisa her priority was changed. She had no courages to keep her part of soul with caretaker. By the God’s grace Satish was earning well, so she decided to give her hundred percentage to her daughter and she quit her prospective career. She opted to be a “full time mother” and she is very happy.

It’s nothing like she has not thought about starting her career again. She has started preparation for interviews also, but she is just waiting Tisa to become more independent.

Tina is in deep thought, she has not noticed that Satish was watching her since long. “What happened Tina, why you are looking so upset?” asked Satish.First Tina is in denial mode but Satish insisted her so she told him about “Fresh Mind” talk.

Listening that Satish bursted into the laugh. He said,”why are you troubling yourself with such a silly talk?

“Silly talk? So Is it okay to call me a person with stale mind. “ spoke Tina angrily.

Satish hold her hand and said,”the Mother is a mother whether Working or not working, a lady can be good mother only if she has a fresh mind. Because to nurture a child lot of dedication and creativity needed and without a fresh mind that can’t be possible. Me and Tisa knows how important you are in our life. Whenever we need you, you are there for us. Without you we can’t imagine what happiness is. So stop thinking so much about this. It has no meaning. You forgot that you called yourself "a full time mother" and you are doing it fabulously. We love you lot and I know how intelligent you are. You become child when you play with Tisa, you become my financial advisor when I needed, sometimes you are home maker, sometimes you are chess player, sometimes you are daughter in law following all rituals, sometimes when I discuss my office matters with you for better advice, Sometimes you became my sweet heart." The last sentence of Satish made her shy.

Satish smiled and continued, "you can change your roles so quickly and that is not possible with stale mind. Don't think what others are saying. They used to speak from both sides if you were working they used to tell you a "cruel mother" who left her child alone without understanding you and now you are not working they felt that you have stale mind. Let them think what they want to think. Do what is better for you and your family. "

There was a big silence in the room. She is feeling better now. Satish's meeting call started ringing, so he gently kissed Tina on her forehead and left for meeting.

Tina started doing her pending works. Now it’s time to pick Tisa from the bus stop. After some time Bus has come and Tisa has come down. She didn’t speak a word and hugged Tina. She was extremely happy as her small presentation on forest gone well. She was talking all about her day but Tina was lost in the moment when she hugged her and told her about her happiness. Tina thinks,”may be my state of mind is not fresh but happiness of my family is the productivity of my stale mind and I don’t want to loose it. “
