The Cursed Hotel

In 1982,

Ashwek Oberoi died in a mystical way while staying a night in a hotel named "Rannbagh Palace" and the case’s still unsolved. But a very workaholic person, he was married to Asmina Oberoi and was having a son and a daughter.

2002, It was a dark night, and the drops dripping from the cloud. The month of August and a family in the car was travelling for the vaccation of a week. In a Mercedes, the father driving the car beside his wife and two children, Revansh and her younger sister Rutvika, tickling each other at the backseats. The route which they were following had no street lights and rarely any vehicles were passing another side of the road. But Mr. Oberoi kept driving the car till they reached a point where there was complete foggy weather, the place was all around covered by long oak trees and beautiful terrains. The scene was just enough to synonymise the word “heaven”. But at that point, the road ended and there were no roads following that end. All of a sudden Mr. Oberoi saw a man, covering his face with a mask, coming towards them along with his old cycle which seem to be full of rust. So Mr. Oberoi also moved the car near him and asked “Hey!! Can you please help us” but the old man didn’t give any reply and just stared at Oberoi and his family members, seeing this Rutvika got a bit scared. Mr. Oberoi went out of his car and again asked the old man to help them, this time the old man replied in a heavy and shaky tone “If you want your family alive, you should leave this place as soon as possible”.

“What rubbish?” Mr. Oberoi shouted fiercely.

Old man replying with an expression of terror, “Trust this rubbish or be ready to pay-off… and for your information, the road again starts ahead but it’s full of mud and often known as ‘The haunted SH-34’ so be careful”

Mr. Oberoi got a bit frightened, so he sat back in the car and while starting the car, in the side mirror he saw that the old man disappeared from nowhere, and Rutvika too saw this. So Mr. Oberoi and Rutvika got shivers after seeing that and Mr. Oberoi turned the car as fast as he can and moved back towards the home.

While going back home, Rutvika with fear on her face, asked “What was that Pa?, How....How did that uncle disappear all of sudden?”.

“He might be a ghost!!” Revansh replied, to tickle her. But this made Rutvika cry so Revans tried to console her. While he was being scolded by Mr. Oberoi for his behaviour, “Don’t you have manners Revansh? You should take care of your small sister”.

8 pm and they’re still not even half the way. Somehow the family managed to reach a hotel named ‘Rannbagh Palace’. So they decided to stay there for the night and will leave early in the morning, they booked a room, unknowingly that this would be the darkest night for their family.

Unaware of the upcoming horror the family went inside the room and everyone got freshened up, except Revansh. All of them had their dinner and after getting a taunt from his father “What happened, Do you need a separate luxurious room?”, finally Revansh got freshened up, and when he was washing his face he suddenly saw a few blood stains so he hurriedly came out of the bathroom. He was just stunned for a minute and felt like his entire world just collapsed in a few seconds. All three, Mr. Oberoi, Ms. Oberoi, and Rutvika were lying on the floor with an ample amount of blood around them.

Revansh just broke into tears, but due to the presence of his mind, he called for an ambulance but as there was no network around so he couldn’t make it. He even tried to contact the hotel services but no one was attending the call and even he could hear the telephone rings from the ground floor. To this, he got a bit scared but he took a deep breath and fearlessly went out of the room and again got shocked by what he saw. The whole floor was like a dead haunted hotel, the burnt doors, complete darkness all around, the floor full of blood stains and dead bodies lying on the floor. Somehow he found a map on the wall, it was the whole floor map of the hotel which was carved on a rectangular marble piece.

After that Revansh started searching all the rooms present on that floor, he almost checked every room but finally when he entered room no. ‘313’, there he saw two people alive- they were fighting with each other and using vulgar for each other. One of them got angry and threw the burning cigarette on the TV, and the tv caught fire within a blink. Watching that Revansh pulled out the Fire extinguisher in the room and sprayed it over the TV and he managed to control the fire and put it out. Those two persons thanked Revansh for saving them, so Revansh talked to them for a minute and when he came out of the room the whole floor was again back to normal, everything was perfectly fine. The floor wasn’t having any stains, people were walking around, and the bulbs were lighted. Everything was just perfectly back to normal and seeing that Revansh hoped that maybe his parents might also be alive again so he opened the door but it wasn’t what he expected, his parents and her sister were still lying dead on the floor.

So he again came out and was moving towards the reception but while he reached the railings, he was again in a shock by seeing that the First floor is perfectly fine condition but the ground floor still seemed haunted, still with blood stains and people lying dead on the floor. He was just shocked till spine this time because he was unable to understand what was happening all there, but collecting all his guts back he started checking all the rooms present on the ground floor, and after searching for a while he found the CCTV room, and the room was in a fine condition as it was covered with fireproof metal sheets. So he went inside and he watched the whole footage which was dated 2 years back and when he checked his watch to check the date, his watch wasn’t working which was working perfectly fine just a few mins ago on the 1st floor. So he continued somehow and after a while, he paused the footage in which he could clearly see the room no. ‘313’ burning, but as he just now extinguished fire there so he remained calm and continued the footage because he wasn’t able to understand how the footage is dated two years back, as the same two-person were visible in the camera coming out from room no. ‘313’ to whom he just met right an hour ago. His mind was just blank after seeing this scene, but he continued to watch it, then he searched the digital logs of the entries made by the hotel, there he found out that the entries made were on the name of ‘Ashwek Oberoi’ and ‘Ashmina Oberoi’, these names were none other than his grandfather’s and grandmother’s name. With his mind stunned up, as he had never seen his grandparents because they died too early when he was small, he was now able to connect the dots that how his grandfather threw a burning cigarette on the TV and how that made the whole hotel a haunted palace within seconds. Still with an unsolved mystery that how his parents and his sister were killed with a knife, rather than burning up.

He waited till 6 am in the morning and managed to reach the police station nearby. Then he explained everything to them but the officers were unable to understand and communicate the dots and thought that the Revansh might be just creating stories around a theme. But when Revansh insisted them to come along with him to the hotel. The officers agreed and when they arrived there they saw that ‘haunted hotel’,

so the officer in an expression of horror asked ”Are you sure your parents are killed here?”,

“Damn sure after yesterday’s night sir” replied Revansh with a sense of maturity but in a sad tone.

So the officers went inside the hotel and opened Revansh’s room, but for now, Revansh himself got astonished because yesterday night, after extinguishing the fire the floor was perfectly fine but now it was again that same haunted floor. After seeing the dead bodies of Revansh’s parents and his sister, the officers also got stunned because the blood was quite fresh and even the knife was also there with no fingerprints on it. Now one of the officers was sweating heavily in fear so they just managed an ambulance there and took up the bodies and also asked Revansh to call any close relatives of him. So Revansh called up his aunt and asked her to come to ‘City Hospital Udaipur’, so she came there, of course, a bit sad but the cops explained the situation and asked her to take care of Revansh, and also told her that now his father’s company is to be legally owned by Revansh but till he turns 18 the company is to behold under the CEO of the company. She agreed to that and both of them left out for home.

11 years later, Revansh was now 26, owner of the mobile manufacturing company, and was having a beautiful spouse and two kids. It was the month of August and all of them were going for a trip, unknowingly the same road that his father took before 11years. Followed up on the same story and met an old man with his face covered along with a cycle. So at that ending point, Revansh asked him “Sir, is the road fine ahead?” but the man didn’t give any reply, the next time Revansh asked so the old man replied, “If you want your family alive, you should leave this place as soon as possible”. After seeing the man disappearing suddenly, he started driving backward as fast as he can but again this turned 8 pm and it was completely dark so they somehow reached a hotel “Rannbagh Palace”, 11 years ago he didn’t read that hotel’s name otherwise he wouldn’t have opted to stay in this hotel again with his family. And the rest is a mystery…..

But all of this was done by his late grandfather, Ashwek Oberoi, who was a very workaholic person, the person who threw the cigarette on TV or say that old man who came up walking in front of Revansh’s father along with his cycle. To send him to the hotel ‘Rannbagh Palace’, Ashwek Oberoi used to believe that the Family acts as a distraction in business and he didn’t want Revansh to get distracted so to prepare him for the future, Ashwek Oberoi killed his son Mr. Oberoi and his family but left Revansh as he’s going to be the next owner of the company. The mystical fact is, that this family tradition is only known to the wives of the Oberoi family, “How?” no one knows that till date...
