Value of Life
How does one put a value upon life? That is the question that surfaces in the mind of every individual at least once in a lifetime. The answer is not a definite one. Everyone has various beliefs and morals; this makes manifesting life’s value into a definite answer a daunting task. I believe every individual holds a personal value of life, each of us appreciate different aspects of life more than other. Life is priceless. There is no specific value that can be placed upon it. There is no way to weigh a life’s worth. Sure you can calculate a person’s economic worth or their career, but a career isn’t a life. There are many aspects as to why life is priceless. You can not measure a person’s values, nor can you weigh the experiences of one’s life. The triumphs and the defeats build character and provide insight. Some may be considered wiser than others, but does that make their life worth more?“To be, or not to be- that is the question.” (Shakespeare III.i.1) Indeed that is the question. Many refuse to believe that their time on this Earth will come to an end, while others can’t wait for it to be over. It is all determi...
QualityThroughout the world, people value life in different ways. Some people take advantage of everything they have and look down upon those who do not have anything. It is sad to know that those who have very little are the ones who value life more then anyone else. Money is a major problem in American Society and makes it easy to put a price on a person’s life. Rather then only care about oneself, people should lift each other up and create a society where no one believes they are better then the person next to them. People need to know and learn how life should really be lived. People should live life one day at a time and appreciate the small things. People’s life should be valued by lifting each other up and taking risks on choices you make…show more content…
Many people are convinced that those who make the most money in life are worth a lot more then a person who might be living off minimum wage. It is wrong to believe that just because a person makes more money, they are more useful. We are fixed to the idea of “survival of the fittest”, but do not really pay attention to the situations. Just because a lawyer makes more money, it should not mean that they are worth more then the janitor who cleans his office. After the nine-eleven incident in two thousand and one, families who suffered received money, but a different price was set for each family. In Amanda Ripleys article, “what is a life worth?”, she explains how a family who had a higher paying job will receive
QualityValue of life What is the value of life? The value of life can be seen in many different perspectives. Common sense seems to dictate that the value of life is based on financial income not morality. Many people assume that there is no sense of morality when they put a price on a life. We live in a world where people come from different cultures, morals, and traditions; it is impossible for us to be the same. Every life is worth the same. No life is worth the same. Some lives are worth less than others. Some lives are worth more than others. Life is valued on a scale based on the carrier paths you have taken. Life is valued based on economical class. The possibilities are endless on the definition of the value of life, so what is life…show more content…
In the article, “What is the Value of a Human Life?” by Kenneth Feinberg, he admits the way the government values life is not humane. As a lawyer Fienberg dealt with cases that made him doubt his knowledge on what life is worth. At one point he faced a case with a women who said, “Mr. Fienberg, my husband was a fireman and died a hero at the World Trade Center. Why are you giving me less money than the banker who represented Enron?, Why are you demeaning the memory of my husband?”(66).Our government bases the value of life in a monetary value based on an economical scale. Life shouldn’t have a price based on the money you made your whole life or earned, it should be based on what you brought to this world. In fact life
