“How are you, mate?” “You coming to the party?” said James, the blue eyed British.

“I don’t know man!” “What about you?” replied Carter, the jolly American.

“Let me connect, Sally”

“Do it!”

“Hello guys, what’s up?” spoke a beautiful voice from the other end.

“Are you coming to the party?”

“I am not so sure, myself. What about you two?”

“We are also not sure!”

“I think we should go” said Sally.

“But I have to take leave from office, would it be worth it?”

“Me too!”

“I think we owe it to him. We should go” said Sally, not so sure herself.

“Okay then its final, we are going!” shouted Carter.

“See you guys there, Bye!” said Sally, hanging up.

“Hey, you still there?”

“I am here!”

“You know the plan, right?”

“Yeah, I know, I am on it. Don’t worry”

“Be ready, it’s our final chance. We won’t get another”

“See you there, James”

“See you, Mate”

Next week

They were all ready for the party. It was a farewell party of their college friend, Lee. He was leaving for Paris, the next day after the party. The party was held in the cottage in the middle of woods; Lee inherited it from his grandfather. It was a perfect location for party, no worrying of someone getting disturbed for at least a mile. All his college mates were coming to the party, including his three dear friends. There were going to meet after a long time, as college got over they got busy in their work and lives. It was big deal for Lee; he had worked hard for his promotion. It was his dream to go Paris, one day.

They all arrived at 7:30 pm, at the cottage.

“Hey mate, how are you?” asked James, and hugged Lee.

“I am great, my friend and so happy” “What about you?”

“We are all great buddy!” replied Carter and Sally, getting out of the car.

“Hell I missed you!”

“I missed you to, James, Sally and Carter”

“So ready for the party!” asked Sally.

“Always!” replied Lee and they all laughed.

Soon the place was bugging with people, dancing, drinking, and enjoying. Sally was drinking with Carter and reuniting with college friends and James was with Lee, they were trying to (what looked like, lighting a bon fire) though I don’t think so, they had any idea what they were doing. Carter told them to use the lighter, but they were insisting on using stones, I am not sure if they were using the right kind of stones.

“Just use the fucking lighter!” Sally said grunting.

“We got it!” they both replied in unison.

“Leave them, they are enjoying it. I am not sure if they want to light it anymore!” Carter said laughingly.

“Hey you want to go the sea?” asked Sally.

“At this time of night, don’t you think it would be kind of dangerous?”

“Don’t be a pussy, come on!” she insisted with her cute face. Carter always had a soft spot for her, he agreed.

“Let’s go!”

“Fuck it! Mate. It’s not working, I am done with it” said James and threw stones away into the dark.

“Yeah, let’s drink”

“Where are they?”

“I don’t know, I never saw them leaving”

“So the love birds again left us!” Carter said and they both laughed.

“Let them be!”

“Where is everybody?” asked Carter, coming out of the woods, behind him was Sally.

“They left!”

“They left?” asked Sally surprised.

“That happens when you leave the party for two hours. What the hell were two doing?” asked Lee.

“We had just gone for a walk, near the sea”

“Did you both walk back to the city?” asked James, and Lee and he laughed out loud.

“Very funny!” said Sally, getting annoyed.

“Shit!” “It’s going to midnight soon!” said Carter looking at his watch.

“Yeah, sit with us and have a drink!” Lee said, pointing towards the seats beside him.

They all sat while drinking bears in the moonlight, in the middle of the woods, away from the noise and disturbance of the city, in peace. The moonlight reached and lit up their faces, soon the light was out and there was total darkness, other than the moonlight there was nothing. If they were in city, they would have gone mad and panicked as the light was out but here they were in peace, maybe for the first time in their lives. Stars were shining like twinkling little light bulbs. It was the most beautiful view they had ever witnessed.

“Let’s get the fire going, it’s getting cold”

“Not you two with your stones, again!” grunted Carter.

“No mate, this time we will use lighter” James said and laughed. He took out a lighter from his pocket; it had a strange sign on it.

“It looks cool, where did you get it?” asked Lee.

“Just from an antique shop, it was on sale!”

“Can I see it?”

“Sure!” he said and threw it towards Lee.

“It has a strange symbol on it, what does it mean?”

“Beats me, mate”

“Yeah I have never seen anything like it” said Sally looking at it from every side.

“Can I have my lighter back?” “It’s freezing now!”

“Take it!”

He lit the fire, this time in one attempt. They all sat around it, their faces were lit in the light of fire. For a moment nobody said anything, they just sat there quietly, then BAM!!”

“What the fuck!” grunted Lee, in pain.

“Nothing my friend!” replied Carter with an iron rod in his hand.

“Why the hell did you hit me?”

“Are you out of your goddamn mind!” screamed Sally.

“Shut up, you bitch!” said James, and slapped her. She immediately fell.

“What is wrong guys!” “Why are you doing this?” inquired Lee, still on the ground with his hand on his head, trying to stop the bleeding.

“You stupid! You thought we came to celebrate your success. You were nothing at college; just a pathetic loser and now look at new, a new job in Paris, a new house and everything that should have been ours!” said Carter, with still rod in his hand.

“Yeah, he is right!” “We should have never made you our friend; you stole what should have been ours!”

“What the hell are you talking about, I worked hard for everything!”

“You worked; you used to copy assignments from us in college. How the hell do you get so good at things?” James said, now furious to hit him.

“Let’s tie him up, the time has come upon us!” shouted Carter. They tied him on a cross they made from the tree logs, not the cross like Jesus. The actual cross ‘X’, it was clear soon that they had come at this place before, to do the preparing.

“What about this bitch?” inquired James.

“Tie her inside in the Dark!”

Carter placed the rod on the ground and went to his car; he came back with a machete. “What the fuck are you going to do with it?” asked Lee.

“Shut the fuck up!” he said and hit him. Lee passed out.

“You got her finger prints?” asked James.

“Yes, I got it!” “Bitch took two fucking hours, just to hold my hand!” he replied in anger.

“Let’s start the process, the hours is almost upon us” James said, looking at his watch, it was midnight now.

“You bring the Relic, I will prepare the weapon!”

“I got it!” in James hand, was an old statute of some kind. It was dirty, like had recently being dug out. They placed the statue in from of Lee, on an upper ground. Then Carter sharpened the machete, when Lee woke up.

“What the hell!” he said in surprised. “What are you trying to do?”

“I think we owe it to him, an explanation!” said James.

“We are going to do “offering of the skull”, to the ancient God and he will fulfill our wishes and will give us what should have been ours from the start” explained Carter.

“What the fuck!” “Please don’t kill me guys, we are friends!” he begged.

“WE are not friends; we would never be friends with someone like you!” James replied.

“Hold him!” “The time has come!” Carter shouted with machete in his hand. James holds him and Carter swung the machete.

“Ahhh!!!” he cried in pain. Sally had hit him from behind, with the same iron rod. James jumped forward to take the rod from her hand but she ducked and hit him in leg, he fell.

“Are you alright?” she asked while untying Lee.

“Yeah, I am fine. They have gone fucking mad!”

“Run!!” she said and they ran towards the car, but Carter caught her from behind and slapped her again. Lee came back and hit him in the head, James came to his rescue. In the furious scene, Sally got the chance to get up and call 911.

“The Bitch called police!” shouted James.

“That’s good; we only have five minutes left!” “Tie him up again and I will take care of her!” he said and dragged her from hair, towards the cottage.

“The time has come!” now they both were standing in front of the fire, shining bright on their faces which were now looking like a crazy maniac, who ran from mental ward.

With the sound the blood spurred all over, and they both left. After 12 minutes the police came and found the machete in hands of James, and Lee, headless with his head lying on the ground, eyes rolled up and mouth open.

You probably were thinking what happened there. So after Carter took Sally to the cottage, she told him that she loves him and begged him to let her live. No matter the amount of success, he had always liked her and wanted her, so he agreed, she then told him she wanted to be a part of this ritual, she also had lost her job and she need the money. They joined hands and Lee and framed James for it.

I have heard that they suddenly won 1 million dollars in a lottery and got married, right after. Police caught James and he was sentenced for life.

“Right here, at your belonged place!” said the antique shop owner, putting the statue on the shelf and, the lighter beside it. With a price tag of 10,000$.
