Much awaited monsoon rains!
"It'd be delayed this year", they (IMD) said. On the due date there was a severe thunderstorm. "No, it is not even pre-monsoon, just localised convection rain". We waited!
One fine day, they said the monsoon has "arrived". We looked out; there was not even spec of cloud in the sky. " The cloud and the rain all have gone to UK", my neighbour said.
This morning, I had to drop a cheque. "Take an umbrella", was the prompt I got from my better half and I did! Halfway down, there was drizzle, soon turned into heavy rain. The umbrella was insufficient. The roads were full of water. The people were taking shelter in places where they normally abhor going!! My shoes were soaking wet by the time I dropped the chq. Returned home with a dripping umbrella and totally wet body. "Monsoon seems to have arrived", I was welcomed home.
Mumbaikars are happy that the waiting hasn't gone waste!! Soon there's be news of heavy water-logging and traffic jam affecting the commuters from Milan subway, Sion-Matunga, Hindmata and practically all rail stations. "Yes, you're welcome, Lord Monsoon, we don't mind the disturbance". Only, be kind to "disturb" each and everyone in the country!!
