Civil Services Obsession Why do you want to be a Sarkari Naukar?

Author Name: Mohammad Furqan Khan | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

In India, pursuing personal fulfilment often takes an unexpected turn—towards the allure of a government job, even the most modest positions. The bewildering question arises: why do the nation's highly educated youth choose the path of public sector employment over pursuing entrepreneurial dreams? These choices cast a shadow over the higher education system, raising concerns about its ability to foster ambitious and innovative entrepreneurs. The widespread acceptance of this seemingly irrational trend is equally perplexing within Indian society.

This book embarks on a journey to unravel the deep-seated fascination that Indian youth have with civil service careers and its intricate connection to the nation's current economic landscape. Through the lens of a behaviourist perspective and a careful examination of historical context, we seek to shed light on this phenomenon. Hidden within the annals of entrepreneurial and economic history lies the answer to the enduring allure of civil service among India's youth.

Join me on a thought-provoking journey through India's past and present as we seek to unravel the complex web of influences shaping the aspirations of its youth. With a compelling narrative and a vision for a transformed future, this book challenges conventions, offering a roadmap towards a new era where entrepreneurship and innovation reign supreme and the fascination with civil service becomes a chapter of the past.

Mohammad Furqan Khan

Mohammad Furqan Khan, a native of the mesmerizing Kashmir Valley, spent his formative years in the city of Srinagar. His early education occurred in a neighbourhood school, where attendance was irregular due to the turbulent times marked by armed conflict in the region. Continuing his educational journey, he pursued higher studies at SP College, Srinagar, where he cultivated enduring friendships, some of which found their way into his fictional narratives. Upon graduating, he embarked on a path of higher learning at the CT Group of Institutions, specializing in Management. It was during this time that his fervour for
teaching ignited and flourished. Dr. Khan's initial foray into academia began as an Assistant Professor at the Bharat Group of Colleges in Mansa, Punjab. However, during this phase, a pivotal realization dawned upon him – teaching theoretical concepts without practical application felt insincere. This epiphany steered him toward the corporate world, where he thrived as a Center Manager at IndiaCan Education Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Pearson Company. In this role, he orchestrated skill development initiatives for unemployed youth, honing his skills in marketing, community engagement, and team management. Dr. Khan's tenure at IndiaCan transformed him into a skilled leader adept at navigating the complexities of organizational dynamics.
Despite his successful stint in the corporate realm, Dr. Khan's heart remained steadfast in higher education. He pursued further academic qualifications, cleared the UGC-National Eligibility Test, and completed his PhD at the Islamic University of Science and Technology. With his doctoral studies behind him, he returned to academia as an Assistant Professor, continuing to inspire students and offer invaluable career guidance and mentorship. An exciting twist in Dr. Khan's career unfolded when he joined the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). Here, he discovered his passion for experiential learning and the art of training entrepreneurs. Leveraging his diverse background in industry and academia, Dr. Khan championed an inclusive teaching approach tailored to various learning styles. His dedication to research is evident in the numerous papers he has published in Scopus and ABDC-listed journals over the past few
years.
