Creamy Tummies - The Cake Shop

Oscar’s shiny black hair became white due to the flour which had got sprinkled all over him. He looked with swollen & popped-out eyes wearing deeply dark stained apron after a hard day to make so much of muffins & cakes. Oscar’s pet “Coco”, a grey parrot helps him in taking orders. His mother “Ruby” was busy in selling those muffins & cakes from their shop “Creamy Tummies” on the ground floor. All the school kids should pass through their shop to reach the school. So, Creamy Tummies was very popular among kids because of its locality besides taste and texture.

During the same day evening when the clock ticked 9 o’ clock, Oscar on the first floor who breathed sigh of relief as the time had come to close the shop and Coco was fallen asleep. Within no time, he rushed to grab the woollen clothes to wear so that he can escape from the sudden onset of frozen breeze before it would freeze him. He sat on the wooden chair which was 6 feet away from the window and his brain could sense the earthy scent “Petrichor”. Yes, it was raining outside.

After a few minutes had passed, he thought to prepare a cup of coffee to match with the outside weather and also it would give him a good kick to refresh. He raised from the chair when it’s around 9:13 pm not to prepare a coffee instead, he wanted to find out the rattling sound from where it came from. Slowly he marched towards the window and he could see a “Little Girl” standing under a white oak tree which was opposite to their shop.

She was wearing a bright pink rain court with a multicolour hat umbrella. She collected a hand full of pebbles from the roadside and she was found to be playing with them by throwing one by one each against the bark of the “White Oak Tree”. Oscar assumed that, this would be the source for the rattling sound and then, he prepared a fresh strong coffee from grade 1 coffee beans. Again, he sat back in that wooden chair and sipped his coffee with eyes closed. He felt each and every cell in his body got rejuvenated.

His relaxing period had not gone so longer. Around 9:33 pm, he could hear the melody sound created by glockenspiel which was not from the outside but from his wall mounted phone by the window. Yes, his phone’s ringing. He took the phone and he says “Oscar here” but the reply was quite spooky which was “…Thirteen!…Thirteen!…Thirteen!…” in a harsh & coarse voice and the phone call was also cut-off in the middle. Oscar began to sweat a lot and to compensate the anxiety he drank some amount of water with his trembling hands. He spilled lot of water around the floor and looked bit nervous. He was in shock once he turned around his head towards the window.

He could see the same little girl through the window and she was pointing her hands towards him. Oscar noticed a white thick fluid was drooling from the corner of her mouth. And she was prompting a few words but he could not hear her voice due to heavy rain. So, he keenly observed her lip movements to get a clue what she is trying to say. His eyes became gradually red and he could not stood up straight henceforth because, his legs started to shiver due to the word that prompted from the little girl’s mouth was “…Thirteen!...Thirteen!...Thirteen!...”

At that point of time, he also heard some murmuring noise behind his back near the monitor table where Coco had fallen asleep. It was Coco, that had waked up in the middle of his sleep and started to say “…Thirteen!...Thirteen!...Thirteen!...” Oscar started to breath heavily and he could feel the sound of his own heart beat outside the body. He knew that the situation was going worst and he was panic too at that same time. To safeguard himself from that spooky night he started to run towards downstairs very fast with a scream “...Mamma…Mamma…”

After he had reached the ground floor, he saw his mother was talking with a “Lady” in their shop. The very chilling moment of Oscar was that, he could see the same a white thick fluid was drooling from the corner of her mouth too. To safeguard his mother from these creepy things, he called her loudly as “Mamma”. She looked back towards Oscar & he asked her to come inside immediately into the house. Ruby went inside and asked him “Is It Over?”. He was in confusion why his mother asked such a question to him. Then, he replied “Which One & What?”. Then, Ruby could feel that Oscar was bit anxious and also, he was unaware of the ongoing situation.

Ruby told him to sit on the couch and asked him “What Happened?”. Oscar started to explain about the whole things what was happened to him. After hearing all the stuffs from Oscar, Ruby busted out laughing & she could not control it. Oscar was scratching his head and he looked in an awful manner what was happening around him. Then slowly his mother Ruby started explaining the things to him that she was the one who called him through phone to bake thirteen more “Lava Cakes”. But the call was cut-off in the middle due to heavy & strong breeze and the harsh & coarse voice was due to the feeble connectivity issues.

Then, Oscar asked about that “Little Girl”. Ruby replied that, during closing time of their shop only a couple of “Cheese Lava Cakes” was not sold. But a lady with her little daughter bought them when they had passed through our Creamy Tummies. They love the delicious taste of our stuffs and they ordered about “Thirteen Cheese Lava Cakes” extra to share with their family members. Little girl saw me while I was calling you through phone with disturbed connectivity. Then, she ran fast near the white oak tree so that, she could make signals to you through window to make thirteen more. And the lady to who I talked was the one, who ordered the extra stuffs and her daughter was that little girl. And Ruby also said that, a white thick fluid from their corner of the mouth was nothing but the creamy cheese which flowed after a bit of their lava cake.

After the failure of the two attempts to contact him, Ruby mailed about the order details to him to the upper monitor through internet. After the mail was received to his monitor, Coco’s sleep would have disturbed due to notification and he saw the alert about thirteen more stuffs to be baked. Then, he would have started to say “…Thirteen!...Thirteen!...Thirteen!...” After which Oscar felt sorry for his act that, he correlated each and every thing around him and assumed that, the situation was not in favour of him and so, he got panicked at the end.

Ruby told his son Oscar that, whatever may be the situation he was stuck in, not to be ever panic and afraid of anything. If he did so, it would make him to take wrong decisions in life like this incident. So, she asked him to keenly observe the things around; focus his mind to find the best solution for it and make an own strategic plan to overcome the hurdles by making a change from unfavourable surroundings to a favourable one. Oscar nodded his head and said with a smile “Sure Mamma”. Ruby and Oscar both of them baked thirteen more cheese lava cakes within a few minutes and delivered them to that lady & little daughter. And the clock ticked 10 o’ clock they closed the shop and both of them went to sleep after taking the dinner.
