A Heterogeneous Mixture

Author Name: S. Chandrasekaran | Format: Paperback | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

Sportsmanship, humour & rationalism have governed my life. I have tried to incorporate these principles in this book “An Heterogeneous Mixture”.Ills of communalism and their consequences are brought out in the fiction titled “The Athiest”. “Friend from a Foreign Country” brings out how a key character, known for his good nature and amiable disposition mindlessly kills his intimate friend and brother-in-law to save his country’s  sports team from being the target of foul play. Political parody has been inducted in certain passages of this book with a view to highlight the shameless behavior of some of our politicians. Switching loyalties with total abandon of the propriety and ethics has become a worrying trend in our polity. Some inputs are included in this book.  The write -up of “Legal Opinion” is shared to instil  a sense of caution to Bankers who in their tight work-load  often do not attach much importance to this area of functioning. I have also tried to include humour in certain portions of this book. “In Defence of Idleness” is one, I am afraid, may result in physical attacks on me. Humour intended, it is for the readers to judge whether the intended humour is enjoyable or regrettable.

S. Chandrasekaran

The author is a 71 year old person born in a middle class family and remains in the same class till this date. He is a graduate of the Madras University. He took up employment with a Nationalised Bank after some years of temporary assignments with other organizations. He got married in the year 1973 and his married life of over 46 years has so far been more of advantage to him.   From the younger days, he nurtured an  ambition for writing but could not properly  work towards it due to his preoccupation with sports and cinema with the result that he became ill-equipped to become a writer. He wanted to step into the writer’s position at least in the evening of his life. Better late than never became his watchword and hence his entry into this field at this age.
He retired from Bank service after attaining superannuation age. Since then, he has been in employment with a private firm in Chennai.
The author is an exuberant rationalist with  roots of rationalism having been developed since his youth. Covertly or overtly, his writings will inculcate rationalism. If this maiden attempt succeeds, he will venture into such exercises in future too.
