Vibration characterisation of machine tools is essential to keep their operating frequencies away from their natural frequencies, thus avoiding resonance. Modelling and analysis of the actual structure are expensive, time-consuming, and require more computational efforts. Therefore, it seems logical to develop a simplified method using which the natural frequencies and modes shapes of the machine tool structures can be approximated quickly and economically.
This book presents a FEM based simplified methodology using which the vibration characteristics of the machine tool structures can be ascertained with reasonable accuracy.
