George Orwell (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950) was an English journalist, novelist, essayist and a political critic born in 1903 at Bengal Presidency in British-governed India. Born as Eric Arthur Blair, Orwell was known by his pen name for his take on social injustice, totalitarianism, imperialism and was an advocate of socialism.
