Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalApplication of Explainable Artificial Intelligence in Sustainable Construction Materials unveils the cutting-edge integration of machine learning and XAI to revolutionize civil engineering. From predictive modelling of properties in sustainable construction materials to interpreting results using multi-layered, model-agnostic Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) techniques, such as summary plots and force plots (primary layer of explainability), and ICE-PDP curves (secondary layer of explainability). This book equips readers with the tools to optimise eco-friendly materials while reducing environmental impact.
Perfect for engineers, researchers, and policymakers, it turns complex predictions into practical solutions for a sustainable future.

Dr. Saad Shamim Ansari, Dr. Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Prof. Syed Danish Hasan
Dr. Saad Shamim Ansari is an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at AMU Aligarh. He holds B.Tech, M.Tech (Structural Engineering), and Ph.D. degrees from AMU, specializing in the behavior of concrete with supplementary cementitious materials. His research focuses on sustainable cementitious composites, machine learning, and explainable AI in civil engineering. He has published in leading journals (Elsevier, Springer, ASCE) and delivered expert lectures on ML and XAI applications.
Dr. Ibrahim received his Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics from IIT Delhi and completed an Erasmus Mundus Postdoctoral Fellowship at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He served as an Assistant Professor at King Saud University, where he worked on large-scale experiments and numerical modeling of concrete structures. Now with the Civil Engineering Department at AMU, his research covers nonlinear dynamics, thin-walled structures, fracture and strain-rate behavior of quasi-brittle materials, and strengthening of concrete. He is trained in SHPB and penetration testing and has published widely.
Dr. Syed Danish Hasan is a Professor in Civil Engineering at AMU with over 26 years of teaching and research experience. He completed his B.Tech and M.Tech at AMU and Ph.D. at JMI. He has published extensively in journals such as ASCE’s Journal of Structural Engineering, Advances in Structural Engineering, Journal of Earthquake and Tsunami, and Structural Engineering and Mechanics. His interests include offshore structures, fibre-reinforced composites, seismic analysis, and civil engineering materials, and he has reviewed for several international journals.
