This is the third in the series of dictionaries for the regional languages of Bangladesh. The previous two were for the Netrokonian and the Siloti languages. The dictionaries are in three languages – i.e., Bangla - the national language of Bangladesh, English, and the regional language, in this case Chatgaiya. This, like all the other dictionaries, is for non-locals, including foreigners. To help users of this dictionary get the correct pronunciations, the Chatgaiya words and phrases are transcribed using the Chatgaiya Phonetic Alphabet (CPA), and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). CPA employs the Bangla script with some additional symbols for representing Chatgaiya speech sounds not present in the Bangla language.
