International Conference on Women and Careers in STEM: Presentation,Challenges and Opportunities (WSTEM 2022) WSTEM 2022

Author Name: Dr. Deepshikha Rathore | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

The acronym STEM, coined first in 1990s has come to represent a body of field that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The term can be applied to education, academia and industry related to these disciplines. Earlier considered to be a male-dominated field of study and work, STEM has come a long way. Women scientists, students and researchers have made a mark for themselves in a field, earlier dominated by males due to lesser opportunities. It was generally men who occupied STEM classrooms and later built a career in these fields creating a lop-sided gender ratio in classrooms, academia, and industry. Also, a need is felt to understand this area of study in its totality starting from history and its implications to the merging dimensions in the form of new careers and new representations. The research areas to be investigated in the present context are inspired from myriad perspectives such as psychological approaches, postcolonialism, feminism, historical approach, film studies, media studies, pedagogical

Dr. Deepshikha Rathore is an Associate Professor in Amity School of Applied
Sciences, Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur, where she teaches Physics. She has 5 years teaching experience of M Tech nanotechnology, MSc. Applied Physics, and 13 years of B.Tech Applied Physics in Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, NU, Neemrana, and Amity University Rajasthan from 2008 to till date. She has expertise in synthesis and characterization of CoFe2O4, Mn1−xCoxFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.5 and 1) and Mn1−xCuxFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.5 and 1) nanoferrites, BaTiO3/CNT/CoFe2O4, CCTO/CoFe2O4 nanocomposites and fabricate the gas sensor device using nanomaterials. Her current research interest involves nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanomagnetic materials, nanocomposite, multifunctional hybrid nanostructure, hard and soft nanoferrites and its combination, cyclic voltametry, impedance spectroscopy, biosensor, gas sensor and semiconductor quantum dot devices using inkjet printing technology. She developed an Applied Physics Research Lab with facilities of various “bottom-up” techniques for incorporating nanometer-scale materials. The techniques are chemical bath deposition, chemical co-precipitation, sol-gel synthesis, electrochemical deposition, spin coating, spray pyrolysis and ball milling technique. She installed several equipment such as,LN2 Cryostat, Temperature Controller, Vacuum Pump, LCR meter, Ultrasonicator, Hydraulic press, Gas sensing Unit etc. at Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur. She has published 22 research papers in International Journals, a paper in National Journal & 3 papers in conference proceeding and also presented several research papers in National and International Conferences. She has also visited Beijing, China for presenting a paper in
International Conference of Energy Environment-Related Nanotechnology (ICEEN-2014) on title “Application of Gas Sensing Properties of Nanoparticles in Cleansing of Atmosphere”. She completed two projects from SERB-EMR Project No. EMR/2016/2156 and UGC-DAE, CSR Project CSR-IC/MSRSR-10/CRS-218/2017-18/1299. Third project is in running status
from SAC-ISRO RAC-S/PRO /21-22/03.
