The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to address some of the most urgent problems now plaguing our planet. Goal 10:’Reduced Inequalities’ is about cutting down on inequality worldwide. At the national and international levels, inequality is currently evident in the social, political, and economic systems of communities. The United Nations' strategy for sustainable development aims to reduce the widening inequality gaps by establishing a set of objectives.

This book is a compilation of research articles and narratives on strategies for reducing inequalities among various groups. All chapters have been contributed by professional social workers, who have proposed social work interventions for the respective area of study using theories, approaches and methods of social work. This book publication is an initiative of the Deanery of Research and Development at Madras Christian College, demonstrating the college’s commitment to fostering academic scholarship and in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr.R.Belinda

Dr.R.Belinda, is a gold medallist in her MSW (HRM). She has completed her M.Phil and Ph.D in Social Work from Loyola College, Chennai. She carries along with her one year of experience in the field as an Executive HR and 23 years of teaching experience. She started her teaching career in Madras School of Social Work after which she joined Madras Christian College in 2002. She has been serving the institution for the past 22 years and is currently the Head of the Department of Social Work, SFS, offering specialisation in Human Resource Management. She served as the Placement Officer of the College for seven years from 2013-2020.

She has published more than 30 research papers in ISBN & ISSN publications and presented more than 20 research papers in various national and international Conferences. She has co authored a book titled ‘Human Rights Education for Social Work Students’ in 2016 and edited four conference proceedings books with ISBN. She attended the Second Social Work Joint World Conference at Stockholm, Sweden in July 2012 and presented a research paper as well as chaired a session in it. 

She has received grants from National and International Bodies for conducting research and has completed 13 funded researches including a UGC Minor Research Project. She has also served as resource persons in International and National Conferences, Seminars and Workshops including ‘Training on equipping teachers for peace building in Nagaland & Sri Lanka’. She has attended the Annual Peace Building Training organised by the Mindanao Peace Building Institute, Davao, Philippines in May 2019 as a United Board Scholar.  She is a Fellow of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia and as part of the fellowship, she has completed her executive development program from the Singapore Management University, visited the Assumption University, Bangkok & Payap University, Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore.
