Aasiya Maryam, born in 1999, lives in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She started writing when she was 10 years old. Her excellent use of the English language in her essays, compositions and project work was commended by her teachers at Rosary Matriculation Hr. Sec. School. Poems got added to her portfolio a few years later. She went on to complete her Hr. Sec. +2 at Fathima Basheer Matriculation Girls’ Hr. Sec. School, where she enthralled both students and teachers with her stories. She prefers telling a story to write it down.
She loves cats but was denied one. So, she adopted a stray cat, called him Tiger and relaxes with him daily. She bonds emotionally with a few trusted friends. However, she prefers to spend her free hours reading storybooks, poems and classics.
Her childhood was spent reading Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew, and later on, the Harry Potter series; she is a great fan of J K Rowling. During her teenage, she introduced herself to ghost stories and the horror genre both in books and thru movies.
She has attended a professional course in Scriptwriting, which extends the capabilities of this talented young writer. She “hears” stories which she is compelled to write down immediately whatever time of night the inspiration may arrive.
