The Glass In-Between

Author Name: Lalitha Gudala | Format: Hardcover | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

Rhea grows up in a world that praises fairness and mocks girls like her: dusky, soft-spoken, easy to overlook. So when someone finally treats her with gentleness, she mistakes it for safety, for belonging, for love. But when that trust shatters, a quiet crack forms inside her, the glass she will spend years learning how to hold without breaking.

College brings new friendships, new routines, and eventually Aditya, a boy who makes her feel chosen again in stolen glances and warm conversations. Believing life is offering her a second chance, Rhea steps toward it with all the courage she has left.
But even the sweetest beginnings can hide shadows. And sometimes, the people who feel like home turn into the storms we never see coming.

The Glass In-Between is an intimate, emotionally raw portrait of a girl who loves long after her heart has been bruised, who grows through expectations, guilt, and the quiet ache carried by so many Indian women.

This story belongs to every girl who was told to adjust.
Every woman who accepted crumbs and called it love.
Every heart that learned, too late, that gentleness isn’t always safety.

Lalitha Gudala

Lalitha Gudala is an indie author whose writing journey began most unexpectedly: through resilience, rediscovery, and the quiet determination to turn setbacks into stories. Armed with a Bachelor of Technology and an MBA from Canada, she built a career in consulting, working as a Project Manager and Grants Writer in a boutique firm. Life abroad taught her persistence, ambition, and discipline. Still, it also came with challenges, three years of juggling part-time jobs, severe health issues, and the relentless pursuit of a role that truly reflected her skills and education.

When her health eventually forced her to pause and return to India, Lalitha found herself facing a different kind of crossroads. In the middle of healing and uncertainty, she rediscovered something she had forgotten, ‘writing.’ Hidden inside an old folder were drafts she had penned during the COVID lockdown: fragments of stories, unfiltered emotions, characters born from truth. What began as a moment of curiosity slowly turned into a calling she could no longer ignore.

With gentle encouragement from a close friend and a renewed sense of purpose, Lalitha decided to publish her first novel independently. She wrote in the in-between hours: between job applications, between family expectations, between the version of herself she had been and the one she was trying to become. Every chapter carried a piece of her: perseverance, vulnerability, quiet courage, and the belief that even the most uncertain seasons can bloom into something meaningful.

The Glass In-Between is not just her debut novel; it is a testament to second chances, to the art of noticing, and to the beauty that emerges when we give ourselves permission to begin again. Lalitha’s writing draws from lived experience and emotional truth, weaving stories that feel intimate, tender, and deeply human. She hopes her work becomes a companion to anyone navigating heartbreak, healing, or the delicate spaces between who they were and who they are becoming.
